HowardDuPuis Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I'm new to Priceline and this forum, but it looks like 4 star Oakbrook Downer's Grove may well yield Westin Lombard or Hyatt McDonald's campus Oakbrook. Is this correct? Does anyone have a recent winning bid? The last one I saw was in Feb 09 for $65. I am looking for 5/7 for one night. Thanks!
dtiger98 Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I just posted a win for the Hyatt Lodge at McDonalds for $40. Honestly, in my opinion its not a 4* hotel. I have bid on 4* hotels in Oakbrook in the past and have only won the McDonalds. It feels more like a dorm than a hotel. I keep hoping to get the Westin one of these days. Good Luck.
HowardDuPuis Posted April 30, 2009 Author Report Posted April 30, 2009 $40 sounds like a good deal for a dorm room, though. Wonder if the 3*'s in Oakbrook are actually better. Did you use free self-park, or am I understanding $15 to valet? Thanks again!
dtiger98 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 I did park for free. I have been happy with the 3.5* hotels in Oakbrook I have stayed at the Doubletree and Hilton Suites.
HowardDuPuis Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 Got anxious after 3 rebids and not sure if I'm paying too much. I guess I'll find out. Thanks, everyone!
thereuare Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Congratulations on your success!I dont' think you paid too much... hotel direct rates start at $129/nite for this nite so this is about half price which is a very nice deal. If you're comparing the price you paid to the $40 win of dtiger98, his/her win was for a Friday nite (yours is a Thursday) and this being 'corporate housing' rates tend to be higher during mid-week vs. weekends. Hotel direct rates for their stay start at just $99/nite, so given the higher hotel conventionally booked rate for your dates, it stands to reason that it would also take a higher opaque (bidding) rated. Thanks for sharing your results with the board. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
