Chris.W Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Bidding for a 5* Amsterdam hotel (City Center-Museum Quarter, this is the only zone with 5-star hotels, so you get 3 rebid zones...)Tried first from 5/8/09-5/11/09 up to USD100 but was declined.Decided to split up my biddings, as friday seemed to be fully booked at some hotels.Anyway, tried 5/9/09-5/11/09 and got it at first try with USD67.Tried to add 5/8/09 night to that booking using extend your stay, which offered me the room for USD113.Decided to decline and go bidding again for the single night from 5/8/09-5/9/09 for USD105 which was accepted. So saved quite a bit by splitting up the bid and even got a little discount on that extra night :)Nh Barbizon PalaceCheck-In: Friday, May 8, 2009-03:00 PMCheck-Out: Saturday, May 9, 2009-12:00 PMRoom Cost (avg. per room, per night): $105.00 (USD)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 1Room Subtotal: $105.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $20.44 (USD)Total Room Cost: $125.44 (USD)Nh Barbizon PalaceCheck-In: Saturday, May 9, 2009-03:00 PMCheck-Out: Monday, May 11, 2009-12:00 PMRoom Cost (avg. per room, per night): $67.00 (USD)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 2Room Subtotal: $134.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $24.25 (USD)Total Room Cost: $158.25 (USD)Used your PRICELINE link for all biddings, thanks again for all your posts!I made two posts as this are two separate wins at different prices.
Romelle Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Very nicely done on the bid-splitting. While you are a newbie here, you obviously aren't a newbie to PL bidding. You probably already know this too, but if you tell the front desk when you first check in you that you actually have two bookings, they most likely will be willing to block the same room for you for both. You got an amazing deal in Amsterdam.Romelle
Chris.W Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 Thanks for the tip, I'll try that :)Somehow I didn't manage to get the topics right, it seems to cut off after a certain number of characters...Chris
choppergirl999 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Congratulations, fellow newb! I hope to fare as well as you! Can you mention what hotel your successful bid was on or how many *?Thank you!cg
Chris.W Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 Please note the topic is wrong, it is USD105 and not USD 10 :) It cut off half of the topic during editing, and I'm not able to change the topic!I was getting the same hotel that I bid for the first time (5* NH Barbizon Palace); I was suspecting that I would get the same hotel, as they were offering a room using extend your stay for USD113, so I knew there was still inventory. As I already bid up to USD100 for the whole 3 nights, I knew that the right price of the room had to be between USD100 and USD113 and so I tried with USD 105, which was accepted.
