Guest pattyk Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 hi, i am looking to stay in NYC for one night, which falls on a saturday. i live very close to NYC but i thought it would be fun to take my boyfriend out for his birthday to dinner and a jazz club in the city and spend the night there. i looooove the embassy suites, but i'm not sure i can get a room at a nice 3* place for only one night on a weekend. and i'm not looking to go broke here. so suggestions are welcome. thanks! (location doesn't really matter, preferably downtown i'm thinking, close to jazz clubs) should i look on hotwire too?
thereuare Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! To best help, we'll need to have a better idea of what your budget is, as different people have different ideas of what 'reasonable' is... especially when it comes to NYC.As far as looking at Hotwire also, we suggest using all available means to get the best deal. (although a quick look doesn't reveal anything that stands out as remarkable, imo)So let us know your budget and we'll take it from there. Guest pattyk Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 sorry! i thought i put that... $100-$125 would be nice
thereuare Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 The Embassy Suites website shows a sold-out condition so i would think you can cross that one off the list. I'm doubtful you'll be successful at $125, but if you wanted to try it anyway i would:When bidding 3* in NYC you have one RE-BID ZONE available, if you're not sure what it is or have any questions regarding re-bidding please feel free to ask.Select 3* Downtown and...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $125.If the above is rejected, have you considered Jersey City, NJ? The hotels reported are very close to the PATH stations which for $1.50 will have you in downtown manhattan in 10-15 minutes. thereuare Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 Did you try the above bids or did you 'can' the idea for other reasons?I'll leave this thread as newbies new to know that not every attempt results in success (and why cancellable back-up reservations are important).
