sleepless2 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Thanks for this board! It took a lot of reading but it really helped! This was my first priceline experience after a horrible failed bid on a rental car where my Roboform accidentally changed a radio button and booked the wrong airport!!! (Fortunately I called right away and they canceled it!!).I was actually hoping to get into the Cambridge Marriott right next to MIT but I quickly realized if I looked for a 3.5* in Cambridge I was likely to end up either at the Doubletree or Hyatt which would be more walking than being in Copley. Since all Copley hotels are close to the T I chose to bid on that district for 3.5 or 4* and that gave me 4 rebid zones. I was expecting to pay $179/nt for the Marriott but I was hoping I could get a 3.5* for about $70.A = CopleyB = BrooklineC = FenwayD = SomervilleE = S BostonI had to close the browser after every single bid (ugh, but not too bad)3.5*AB $40AC $45I then realized I had made a mistake and should have started with 4* and A alone but oh well...4* AD $50AE $60ABC $70 ABD $80ABE $90ACD $100I decided I wanted to see if I could get a better deal on 3.5*3.5*AD $60AE $65ABC $70ABD $75ABE $80 -> rejected but offered to take $22 moreThis surprised me because I saw a lot of accepted offers for 3.5* around $65-$80, but I guess things were pretty booked up for my dates.I decided I would be willing to pay an extra $20 or so for a 4* so I switched backACE $105 -> Accepted!Expedia showed no rooms for this time period - strangeTravelocity quoted $233!Overall it was more than I wanted to pay but right on given Hotwire's quotes for $115 / 3.5* or $142 for 4*
