Priceline Hotel: 4* MTE NYC - Help!!

Hello. First time priceline user here and your advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to book a hotel from May 5th - 8th in MTE. I've gone up to $135, using a series of rebids and have been unsuccessful. I've noticed some members winning bids at $105 for the exact same. Am i missing something here? Am i bidding too close to the travel date? Your advice would be appreciated, especially a starting bid range.

You state that you have seen other winning bids for these dates at $105... do these win(s) have the same exact check-in/check-out dates as your own or do some of the dates merely overlap with your own? How long ago were these bids won?

Is there a reason you're only bidding the MTE zone? Including more zones which are acceptable will increase the number of hotels which could accept your bid... most midtown zones work out fine for the average visitor.
