Nickson Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Hi,Great to find this sight.. I am not a priceline newbie but have not used it in NYC before.I am looking to use priceline for an upcoming stay in NYC.. would stay anywhere from downtown-soho-midtown..Anyway I have been seeing some of the strategies and winning bids and quite impressed with what I could expect.. just wondering whether I should expect to be able to get a room with at least 2 doubles? I was thinking of trying to mimic the $105 winning bids at the grand hyatt.. which should at least have double rooms..what do you think?? Any advice would be much appreciated. Also, would someone care to explain how they are adding the "free bid zones" such as Brooklyn to increase the chances of getting a winning bid? Thanks again Nick
yellowdog Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding Nick! Some basic information to start with.I was thinking of trying to mimic the $105 winning bids at the grand hyatt.. which should at least have double rooms..I can't speak for the rooms at this hotel. But PRICELINE only guarantee a room for 2 adults, that could mean 1 bed. Mimic the strategy for this hotel don't guarantee that you will hit this since your dates are diffrent. And rates are date specific. Also, would someone care to explain how they are adding the "free bid zones" such as Brooklyn to increase the chances of getting a winning bid? This is a good link to start with: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedPlease post with any questions.Yellowdog.
AaronJB Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 As mentioned, please ask for help for your specific dates - it is not recommended to try and copy someone else's win if their dates are different than yours.Rooms in NYC are notoriously small, and getting 2 beds is definitely not guaranteed. A bidder on the site won the Grand Hyatt the other day and called regarding two beds. They had rooms w/2 beds and they were priced the same as the rooms w/1 bed. Hotel said no, and they have the right to do so.Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start your purchases.
thereuare Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 To add to the above, you could receive a hotel other than the Grand Hyatt, and double rooms there could be at an additional fee and/or not available for your particular stay. You have to decide if you want to risk it and take the chance the hotel may not be aboe, or willing, to accomodate your request vs. paying a little bit more and using HOTWIRE for triple occupancy (although in NYC booking for triple occupancy comes at a premium, but i would first search HOTWIRE to see if anything appears reasonable and within your budget)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. itzmalada Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Did you call the hotel and requested for double bed? Could you detail the process, did the hotel give you a hard time for your request? Thanks!
