Erudite
Hello,I wanted to find out if Priceline offers some sort of price guarantee for hotel prices in the bidding section. If I bid and win a certain price on a hotel that they provide and if that same hotel is available for a lower price will priceline match the lower price found elsewhere?I know it doesn't happen often, but what do I do if I find a cheaper price on the same hotel on the hotel's main website? Thanks Link to comment

chinotto_21
With reference to the ''Best Price Guarantee'', I don't know if anyone here has ever filed a claim for the Best Price Guarantee... but they didn't even honour it. I had booked Hooter's Casino Hotel for 5 nights (a 3*) in Las Vegas for 197$ total, found it on Expedia & Hooter's website for 178.00$ total. They refused to honour it because Hooter's charges 5.00$/day of resort fee, so 178.00 + 5$x5days = 203$... however, they couldn't confirm if my price with Priceline (197$ total) included the resort fee. Like the customer service representative informed me: ''Hooter's may or may not charge you for the resort fee... we don't know''. But you only have 24 hours to file the Best Price Guarantee claim... so that's a problem.I ended up e-mailing upper management threatning to reverse the charges with Visa for false advertisement... and they called me at home the next day to tell me they were terribly sorry. Instead of adjusting the price, they cancelled everything and gave me a refund. I can't complain because I wasn't too happy with Hooter's... but let's just say, had I not e-mailed upper management, I would have been stuck overpaying for my hotel. Link to comment
thereuare
Based upon the info you provided i don't think your Best Rate Guarantee wasn't honored due to the unknown resort fee, but rather that you were basing your claim on the total purchase price (including fees and taxes) rather than just the room rate. The different between your PRICELINE rate and the hotel direct Hooters rate is $21, which on a 5 nite stay can easily be attributable to priceline's booking fee... i'm guessing your PRICELINE bid amount was the same, or $1 or $2 less, than the room rate on the Hooter's website, which as per the terms of the Best Rate Guarantee would not be a valid claim (since the terms state the comparison will be made on the room rate, not including any fees or taxes) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
