wbaburchak Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Good morning all,This newbie could use some help with his first try with Priceline. We'll be needing a room in FLL for two nights, 1/5 and 1/6.I would like the downtown area, in a 3 star hotel.(which looks basically like Marriott marina or Embassy Suites)Can you help me with the bidding strategy? (when to start, how much to start at)Your help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks,Bill
thereuare Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! It is usually recommended that you start bidding as soon as you know your plans are firm... but keep your bids at the low end of the range to make sure that you don't over-bid.If you wanted to begin trying now, first thing you need to be familiar with is RE-BIDDING. Read thru that link and feel free to ask any questions you may have. For the Ft. Lauderdale zone and bidding 3*, you have 2 re-bids available... free free to confirm them with the board if you are unsure or 'just want to make sure'.This is how i would proceed:Select 3* Ft. Lauderdale Downtown....Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone and....Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $75.If successful i think you're more likely to receive the Marriott than the Embassy Suites.Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the above.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. So that i can adjust strategies for future users, did you try any bid amounts that were rejected prior to $80?Enjoy your stay. wbaburchak Posted September 22, 2004 Author Report Posted September 22, 2004 Thereuare,Sorry it took so long to get back to you!No, $80 was my first bid. My reasoning was if I bid just a bit more than the standard bid, I would be successful.I don't know if that worked, or whether it was just blind luck!!!Thanks for the help!Bill
