InMotion Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Could you please help me ID this 4* HOTWIRE hotel at London Heathrow, 6/17-6/18, at $69 per room per night (I need to book 2 rooms)Facilities: shuttle, fitness center, restaurant, business center, near golf courseAlso, am a novice, and am just learning from this forum. I tried bidding for this specification on PRICELINE at $55 but had my bid declined, with a message that I had a one time opportunity to rebid if I was willing to increase my bid by $15. Does that look like around $70 is the best going rate for a Heathrow airport on this date for either priceline or hotwire?
MadFlyer Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 That appears to be the Sheraton Skyline. The rebid offer just means you are close. I never accept them except for same day offers with no rebid possibility. This far in advance you have no need with 2 bids a day with the Luton rebid zone. You should be able to win on PRICELINE for around $61 or $62 right now. It may be the Sheraton Skyline or one of the 5 others that tend to come up. When the Crown Plaza is available it tends to come up for around $44. With the fees and taxes you would save around $14 using PRICELINE over HOTWIRE.
yellowdog Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 InMotionWelcome to BetterBidding! Can you double check your search result. I can't get the same hotel to appear. How many rooms/adults/children did you search for?Yellowdog.
MadFlyer Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 still coming up Sheraton Skyline at $69 for 2 rooms on the 17th of June for me.... they left off WIFI feature for 6 total features and matches the list then.
InMotion Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 I searched for 2 rooms for 3 adults and 1 child. That is still the only HOTWIRE option that comes up for Heathrow :)
thereuare Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Given PRICELINE's counter-offer of $70 you can almost certainly beat the HOTWIRE rate of $69... are you looking for the least expensive 4* or better hotel for this nite OR are you looking to target/take an educated guess as to the property you may likely receive before your purchase? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. InMotion Posted April 27, 2009 Author Report Posted April 27, 2009 I am looking for any good quality 4* accommodation as long as it is near the airport. I have a backup booking that can be cancelled at 24 hr notice. One question I had was whether I should try to go for the priceline option now, and secure something at around $60 per night, or wait a while? Am I at a disadvantage or advantage as I get closer to the date I need the hotel--or does it not matter?
thereuare Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 I am looking for any good quality 4* accommodation as long as it is near the airport. Are you comfortable with receiving a hotel anywhere within PRICELINE's boundaries of the Heathrow Airport zone? One question I had was whether I should try to go for the priceline option now, and secure something at around $60 per night, or wait a while? (also take into consideration how much of a savings this is relative to hotel direct rates and in an ideal situation how much lower would you consider a 4* hotel in this zone to sell for?)priceline.hotwre Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
