puck71 Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Does anyone know what might be listed for a 3* in Houston-Channelview for $69 a night from 4/30-5/4?Amenities:Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities I don't see a reference to the Channelview zone anywhere? Is this a new zone or did it used to be called something else? Or has HOTWIRE just never had much in that zone? Thanks!!Also, is this a decent zone to stay or is downtown better? There's a 4* downtown for $82 a night for the same date range. I'm flying in and out of IAH, will be out in the Pasadena/Deer Creek area for a fair amount of the weekend.
thereuare Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 The Channelview zone is pretty much outside of the Downtown area so there likely just hasn't been much interest in this zone by board members. I've never been to Houston, but i would imagine that staying Downtown vs. this zone would be two very different experiences (Downtown you could probably walk to quite a few places, restaurants, bars, etc. whereas in the Clearview zone you'll likely need to drive places and likely be on a major <highway-like> road)The property above has not yet been identified, but if i were to take a guess i'd think the Holiday Inn would be a possibility and that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. tabby_leg Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 I live in channelview and from what i know locally, there is a new hotel on Normandy and I-10 La Quinta that just opened up a few months ago. There is a comfort suites off I-10 by Federal Road but don't know if that one has a pool. I know that the Holiday Inn Express in Jacinto City does not have a pool. Now the Baymont Inn on Mercury does have a pool. But be warned it is connected to a motel right on property that does share the pool. The Baymont i think would be pressing the 3 star rating. My guess it would be that one. Other than that there is a full holiday inn on I-10 in channelview but i don't think it does have a pool. If i had to put money down it would be the Baymont. Not great but i use to use it for my guess that stayed there when i booked for work. The negotiated corporate rate i negotiated with them was $69 per night.good luck and be sure to post what you won on the calendar of wins to help everyone else out.- cheers
