rayq Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 I've got a silly question as I am new to HOTWIRE. When booking 3 rooms through hotwire, will they be all in the same/different hotel? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Welcome to the site. When you go to HOTWIRE, you will search for 3 rooms. When you select the listing that you want to purchase, you will be purchasing three rooms at that hotel. So, all three in the same hotel. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start your purchase/s.
rayq Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 We are planning to visit and stay 4 nights in Vancouver during Jul 25 - Jul 29, 2009. HOTWIRE shows $79/night for a 3* hotel in Richmond - Vancouver Intl Airport YVR.Amenities: Suite, airport shuttle, fitness center, pools, restaurants, business center, tennis nearby.Hotel list: Holiday Inn, Radisson, DoubleTree. Is this a good price or better off to try with Priceline during our visit time period? Priceline show the median retail price for a 3* hotel in the same area is $121.I am new to HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. Thanks in advance.
yellowdog Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 You can try to undercut the HOTWIRE rate first. The median rate is nothing you should base your bid on. If going by PRICELINE don't forget to bid for 3 rooms at once so your party ends up in the same hotel..If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.Just post if you have any futher questionsfor your stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 ... and if you'd like help identifying the property above, please let us know the number of your rooms and occupants you're searching HOTWIRE for so we can try to pull up the same offer.Or if price is the most important factor let us know which PRICELINE zone(s) you're willing to bid and your maximum star rating and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. rayq Posted May 8, 2009 Author Report Posted May 8, 2009 We are planning to book 3 rooms from 7/25 - 7/28 with 3 families (2 with 4 members and 1 with 3 members) in Richmond, BC area and would like to pick 3* hotel which will cost ~$80. The thing concerns me is that Hotwire rated the Comfort Inn Airport (in Richmond) as 3* and it usually goes for ~$90 when booking through Expedia. We might be given that hotel when we actually book through hotwire! Thanks.

Thanks.Let's back up and take this one step at a time...3 rooms from 7/25 - 7/28 with 3 families (2 with 4 members and 1 with 3 members)So there are 11 people in total? Are they all adults or what is the breakdown of adults/children?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. rayq Posted May 8, 2009 Author Report Posted May 8, 2009 There are 6 adults and 5 kids (6-11 year old). Also seems that Vancouver West has better deal than Richmond area. Just wondering what the reason is. Thanks.
thereuare Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 If you do a HOTWIRE search for 3rooms/6adults/5children a 3* hotel is offered with:Suite, Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, TennisThe above are not the amenities that have previously been reported with the Comfort Suites so that would favor this not being this property, as well, I'm not sure if the Comfort Inn rooms are considered suites. HOWEVER, amenities can change at any time so there are no guarnatees. (and the last time it was reported was a year ago)One other option is to see if this same "suite" hotel appears for 3 rooms for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balanace... if so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain', if you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. There could be many reason for the deals to be better in Downtown West vs. the Airport... more competition among downtown hotels so they need to be more competitive with their rates, hotels catering towards business travelers and your dates covering Sat-Tues (not big travel days for business travelers), no convenitions in town, etc, etc. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes or if we can be of further help. rayq Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 Our trip will be 3 nights in Vancouver, 2 nights in Nanaimo (already reserved directly thru the resort), 2 nights back in Vancouver, and 1 night in Kelowna on the way back to Calgary. We have won 2 nights (7/30 and 7/31) for $70 at 4* Hyatt Regency Vancouver thru PRICELINE. We still need the first 3 nights (7/25 - 7/27) staying in Richmond and 1 night in Kelowna. Have been trying to bid thru Priceline for 3* hotels in Richmond for 1st 3 nights and 1 night in Kelowna. Didn't get any even bidding up to $63 for Richmond, BC and up to $70 in Kelowna, BC.
thereuare Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I think you're taking a risk using PRICELINE for 3 rooms and expecting two beds in each of them, but it's your trip so if you're fine with it then i've stated my case. How high are you willing to bid for the Richmond leg of your stay? (please keep all info regarding your Kelowna in your existing priceline thread for that leg of your trip)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. tilepusher Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I must have missed this topic the first time around. If you're still interested in identifying the 3* hotel in Richmond - YVR (it still appears on HOTWIRE), my best guess is the Executive Airport Plaza.
rayq Posted July 13, 2009 Author Report Posted July 13, 2009 Finally got a 3* Holiday Inn Vancouver Airport at Richmond for $57/night on 7/26 - 7/29 at PRICELINE (via link here). Started bids with $43 - $48 - $51 - $57.
thereuare Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Hope you're happy with the results and this works well for your plans.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
