tilepusher
This is for the front end of my trip to Portland (see this earlier post for the other half). I didn't want to spend all my time in Portland near the airport (or commute from an airport hotel), so I bid for a downtown hotel for this portion. I bid up to $50 (+$5) for a 4*; I decided to try for a 3.5* before going higher. After my bids of $40, $42, and $44 were rejected, my bid of $45 (+ $5 bonus) was accepted at the Paramount. The total was $111.10 after taxes and fees. The best rate on the Coast Hotels website was a $135/night rate that included valet parking, or a AAA rate of $120/night; Expedia was offering a discounted rate of $107/night.In retrospect, I'm wondering if I should have bid more for a 4* first, but this hotel should be okay. The rooms are advertised as being 400 sq. ft., bigger than most rooms in downtown Portland, with fridges and free Internet. The location is good, and I certainly can't complain about the price.I used the PRICELINE link to begin this purchase. Link to comment
