traveladybug Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Hi,I've been trying to book a Paris 4* hotel for the dates June 1 - 5th (4 nights) on my own for a few weeks, without any luck. I found this forum and saw many successful bidders, so I'm hoping this will change my luck. Any tips on how I should bid? The maxmium price I am willing to spend is $110 USD/night and I'm interested in the areas Les Halles, Tour Eiffel and Champs Elysees.Thanks,-Traveladybug
traveladybug Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 Forgot to add that I'm trying to book this through PRICELINE.comAlso, I'm new to this forum, so I'm not exactly sure if this is where I should be posting my question.Thanks.

traveladybug Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 My highest bid was for $115 USD in the areas of Les Halles, Tour Eiffel and Champs Elysees and that bid was made on Apr. 20th. I would still like to keep my maximum bid at $110 USD.
thereuare Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 So to confirm, you're looking to bid less than you have already and less than your previously rejected bids? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. traveladybug Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 Yes I am because I've seen some people on this forum with successful bids of $84 - $105/night for the same areas. It might just be an issue with my travel dates. But I'd also like to know if my expectations are unrealistic.
brianc_li Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 But I'd also like to know if my expectations are unrealistic.I think you are being unrealistic. June and September are arguably the busiest months of the year for Paris hotels. The tourist trade is getting busy and business traffic is still in full swing. I assume the wins you were looking at were for months other than those?Looking at the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins there is one in La Defense for $95 in early June but, as you are no doubt aware, that is a less expensive area than the one you want.IMO you'll have to accept another area or increase your offer.
Romelle Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 You might try plugging your dates into HOTWIRE to see what is offered there. That will give you a rough idea of what bidding on PRICELINE might take. Also, you could try the dates of other people's wins to see the difference.Romelle
