bgate Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Hi there,Can anyone help me identify this hotel? From what I can gather it could be 3 different hotels - Hyatt Regency, Swissotel or Hotel Felix. Anyone booked this in the last couple of days and know which it is?Amenities are:FitnessRestaurantBusiness InternetSpaThanks,BG
AaronJB Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Please follow up your previous Los Angeles thread and post in that thread what you ended up doing so that thread can be closed out. That thread is here: Hotwire Los AngelesOnce that is done, we would be happy to look at the options for these dates in Chicago.
bgate Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 We have not booked anything for the Los Angeles stay yet.
AaronJB Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 This amenity set could be a match for any of the three; while the Hyatt is probably the most likely, there's no way to know for sure. I'm now seeing this listing for $79, where it was in the 80's when I was looking at it for these dates early this morning.Personally, I'd also recommend the 4* in the Loop zone for these dates with the amenities: boutique, restaurant, fitness, internet, business for $104 (the price you see may vary) as that's likely the Burnham. Please let us know what you decide or if you have any questions. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start your purchase/s.
bgate Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 Thanks for the reply. I had a hunch it would be the Hyatt, and that's the one I'd least prefer as it gets pretty average trip advisor reviews.I was reluctant to book anything in The Loop as I was under the impression it would get pretty quiet at night - we'd prefer to be somewhere with a bit of night life. Not being from Chicago though, would you say there is much to do - restaurants, bars etc - near the Hotel Burnham? Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 If you are seeking a nightlife-heavy area, the Loop is not it. It's easy to get a cab ride to-and-from that area, but it's easier just staying there. The Hyatt is not a favorite hotel of mine, but it's not bad; it's simply a massive, convention-oriented hotel. The rooms are fine, the public areas are fine - it's just that I wouldn't expect personalized service from a hotel w/2,000+ rooms. Full price I'd say no, but it works when priced at a sizable discount. The other issue why I do suggest the Hyatt for these dates is because it's the cheapest option - if the Hyatt is the 4* $79 Mag Mile/Streeterville on HOTWIRE, the regular rate for the hotel on Orbitz.com for these dates is $259. The next cheapest option on HOTWIRE at the 4* level is the Burnham, which wouldn't work location-wise.You could also consider PRICELINE for a 4* in the River North/NMA area. If that is of interest, we can suggest a strategy to bid for these dates.
bgate Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 Thanks again for your help. I would try PRICELINE, but it's not available to Australians. I'm going to think about it - really not keen on the Hyatt. Fingers crossed something else will turn up. Happy to wait until the last minute and test my luck.Cheers,BG

bgate Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 I'm interested in the North Michigan Ave - River North Area. I'd ideally like to get something under $85 per night.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* NMA...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. bgate Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 Can I just confirm that the zones I should add for my dates are: Skokie, O'Hare South, Midway Airport and Lincoln Park?Just being cautious. Don't want to end up with a hotel somewhere other than the NMA-River North area. Thanks,BG
thereuare Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Yes, those are your correct re-bid zones... but you should doublecheck them again just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed. You can also doublecheck and Re-Bidding.com as a secondary check. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
