Cubby Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I'm glad I found this site...I spent almost a week fretting over what was going to happen on Hotwire...found this site and 15 minutes later found the hotel I wanted. I wanted to pull the string on a 5* but have kids and they wanted the great pool and lazy river at MGM. We've been there before and everyone loved it, why not go back?See below for details. As an FYI, Orbitz and Travelocity had a total rate for this same package for $625. I saved over $140..THANKS AGAIN!Here's what we got:Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services TA 0 out of 5 Based on 2540+ customer reviews HotelHotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $73.00Nights: 6Rooms: 1Subtotal: $438.00Tax recovery charges and fees: $44.95Total price: $482.95
Cubby Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 Also, it's interesting I booked on a Sunday night and was quoted $73 a night, I check this morning (Monday) and it's $72/night. No biggie but maybe it's because Hotwire knows people are booking reservations at a higher rate on Sundays? I don't really care about the extra $6 (6 nights), I just thought this was interesting.
yellowdog Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Thank you for sharing your result with the board!Great that you found the board and it was useful for your stay. Yes, it's a great hotel. Nice pool area and cool lions. No biggie but maybe it's because Hotwire knows people are booking reservations at a higher rate on Sundays? This is normal for HOTWIRE with a few $ up/down depending on when you search. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
Cubby Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 Yellowdog, can you tell if I used the link from this site? I have been all over this site for four days (love it and appreciate all the info) and I apologize profusely if I didn't reserve it through your link. I'm thinking I did, but was curious why you put this in your reply.
Cubby Posted April 27, 2009 Author Report Posted April 27, 2009 It appears HOTWIRE fares are higher on Sunday evenings. All this past week I kept checking this fare at $72/night. I booked last Sunday night at $73/night after seeing it at $72/night the prior week. This Sunday (26th) it's back up to $74/night.
thereuare Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 HOTWIRE uses a variable mark-up... while you were receiving the $72 quotes others were likely receiving quotes a few dolllars higher and a few dollars lower when searching for the same parameters. I dont' think anyone has found Sunday evenings to be higher than at other times when using a large sample of data (which would make the findings significant)Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Enjoyo your stay and good luck in Vegas. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
