stingray310 Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 I am looking for help on my rebid after my 72 hour wait for a 3* downtown Miami hotel for 10/15 thru 10/16. On Thursday 9/2 I bid the following;$35 bid for 3* downtown - denied$40 re-bid for 3* downtown & N. Miami - denied$45 re-bid for 3* downtown & N. Miami & SW Miami - deniedI'm just wondering if I should start again at $46 and keep going higher or should I drop down and start at $40 and go up or just start at around $50. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Stingray
thereuare Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are higher than usual for your date. For the next 2 weeks i would continue bidding as follows:3* Miami Downtown:Bid $42, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $46, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $50.After that 2 weeks or so it will be time to re-evaluate the situation.I would also advise, if you haven't done so already, booking a cancellable back-up 'just-in-case'.Keep us updated as to your progress. stingray310 Posted September 7, 2004 Author Report Posted September 7, 2004 I would also advise, if you haven't done so already, booking a cancellable back-up 'just-in-case'.Any ideas or recommendations on hotels that I could check into as my cancellable backup? Also I was rejected on the $42, $46, and $50 rebid strategy and am presently waiting the 3 days until I try it again.thanks,Stingray
thereuare Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 HOLIDAY INN has a $109/nite rate for your dates which appears to be cancellable (be careful as the lower rates i saw have cancellation fees).RADISSON has a $169/nite rate (again be careful as some rates on their site have cancellation fees). stingray310 Posted September 8, 2004 Author Report Posted September 8, 2004 thereuare,Thanks for the hotel information, I will check those out and probably book a cancellable room at one of them like you advised just in case nothing comes through from priceline. Thanks again for the information.Stingray
stingray310 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Report Posted September 15, 2004 Tried for 2 weeks to get a 3* downtown Miami for 10/15-16 and bid$42, $48, & $55 and was rejected all times.Decided to lower to 2.5* and bid $40 and was rejected but was offereda free rebid for $12 more but I still had a free rebid for another zoneand I bid $46 and was accepted for Courtyard by Marriot downtownMiami. Thats about what I wanted to pay for a 3* DT but prices seem to be a bithigher that week for some reason. We're Staying for one night pre-cruiseand so I think it will be perfect for what I need it for.Has anyone stayed at this hotel and can give me a review of whatit is like? thanks,Stingray
thereuare Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Thanks for sharing and posting your win... and adding this new hotel to our lists in the process! Here is the only REVIEW i coudl find on this property... nearly a year old. Not likely too much info among Priceline users since 3* is usually available at these levels and even users who bid 2.5* are probably often upgraded to the 3* properties. The review above states that it's near Bayside... which also means it must be relatively close to the port.Enjoy your stay... please add your own review to this board upon your return (and take some pics if you have a digital camera :) )EDIT: Travelocity.com/Vacations/Reviews/Hotel/Read/0,,TRAVELOCITY_63208_0,00.html"]MORE REVIEWS Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
