I know that it is still early to bid for September, but I have been trying anyway, and have been bidding unsuccessfully up to $175 for hotels in TS, MTW, MTE and CPS for the above dates.

Am I just to early, and need to wait until later, or is it possible that $175 is just too low for a 4* hotel in these areas for mid-September (Monday and Tuesday nights)?

I realize none of you have a crystal ball, but what do you think my chances are of getting a room based on the above criteria?

I'm not sure if there's something going on on these dates, but rates do seem quite high. However, $175 is pretty high to bid for a 4*.

Personally, I would wait a week and try again, but I wouldn't go any higher than $175 at this point in time - I would start lower again and head towards $175.

Iif you want to book something regular rate, the 4* Flatotel is $207 and change on Orbitz.com (on sale). Use coupon code deal0hotel for 10% off each night (the 10% off should be applied after you type the code in the coupon code box and hit enter.) However, that is a non-refundable reservation. Orbitz notes that they only have a few rooms left at that ($207) price.

Please use the site's PRICELINE, HOTWIRE or Orbitz.com links to start your purchase.

Thanks Aaron. Since you don't think it will be impossible to find a 4* under $175 sometime in the next few months, I think I will keep watching and keep the bids low. I always check the best hotwire deals of the day and go to a couple of travel websites to see if I can identify any trends.

In the meantime, I have booked a fully refundable back-up, the Comfort Inn Times Square, at $165 plus tax. The hotel is getting good reviews and I think the only reason it is a 2* is its lack of amenities. I would prefer a hotel north of 42nd Street, which is why I will keep bidding the 4*s here.

I will report back on this thread if/when I find what I'm looking for, and will go through your links.

Forgot to add, thanks for the tip on the Flatotel, but I have seen it rated 4*, 3* and 2* on various sites, and I would prefer not to lock into a non-refundable reservation for this hotel at this time.

Okay, the 4* hotel in Times Square - Theatre District on Hotwire for my dates is driving me crazy. The amenities show as Fitness Centre, Restaurant, HiSpeed Internet, Business and Spa. The TripAdvisor rating is 3.5 out of 5, with over 400 reviews.

The amenities fit the Westin, but it is rated 4 out of 5 with over 1,000 reviews on TripAdvisor. It almost fits the Crowne Plaza except for the Spa icon, and it matches the TripAdvisor info for the Crowne Plaza. In fact, the Crowne Plaza is the only hotel on Trip Advisor for my dates that match the area, the ratings and the number of reviews.

What do you guys think; is it likely to be the Crowne Plaza? And do you think it is too early for me to lock in at $212 for a 4* in TS in September? I continue to be unsuccessful on Priceline up to $175.

Thanks.

It could be the Crowne Plaza, but the Crowne Plaza is still showing in the Vacation Packages with the previously reported amenity combination. They could be using two different sets of amenities, but at this point i would favor it being a different property until proven otherwise.

With time on your side and this zone purchased frequently by the board i would be a little patient as i suspect this property will be 'revealed' sooon enough.

OMG, I'm soooo upset!! I found an acceptable deal on Hotwire and because I was excited about it and had four browsers open verifying everything, I used the wrong browser to book it and ended up not using your HOTWIRE link! I'm so sorry :)

But the good news is that I got the 4* Crowne Plaza Manhattan through Hotwire from September 14 to 16, 2009, for $189.00. I wanted to be right in Times Square this trip, and I needed two beds, so I was more comfortable booking 2 adults and 2 children through Hotwire at the same price as 2 adults only. This should guarantee two beds, right?

Amenities shown were:

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Internet

Given the wins recorded for last year at the same time (mid-September), I'm very happy with the price.

Thanks for your help and I promise to use your links next time!

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you're happy with the results and the deal you received. If you included 2adults/2children on your search you should receive a room with two beds (or at least one bed and a pullout sofabed)

Sorry to hear you didn't use our links, please remember to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your future purchases (and all browsers)

Enjoy your stay.
