joey2 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Iv noticed at $23 win by another member.Should I bid that amount or are their bidding stategys that should be followed. Thanks
eraserxxx Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 August is pretty far away. Why dont you start lower (even lets say at $17) and increment by $1 each bid until you win? At least then you'll know that you got the best rate you could, even if it takes a few days.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Iv noticed at $23 win by another member.I'm assuming their win was for dates different than your own? While i agree that you have plenty of time and i would star low, $23 may not cut it for a convertible for your dates. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 What is the best price you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
joey2 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 The best price I can find is $65 inluding taxes which Im not willing to pay.
thereuare Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 What is the daily rate before fees and taxes (which wil make it easy to compare to an equivalent PRICELINE bid) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
thereuare Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 You're looking for a 50% discount from a car rental bid, which we do sometime see, but is a big aggressive in expectation. I would continue bidding up to your $30 maximum. If you're not successful up to $30 what is your gameplan? (as i assume you do need a car in Maui)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. joey2 Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 What price should I start bidding at and how much should I increase my bids by?If Im not successful I'l book a compact using convetional methods at $13 per day including taxes and feesThanks
thereuare Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 I would book the back-up with the comapct car now thru a fully refundable source (reservations directly with the car rental agencies are almost always fully refundable, most don't even require a credit card) to protect yourself from that price going up while you continue to bid. Please check our support page for links to the major rental car companies. To continue with your bidding i'd suggest increasing by $2 from your last rejected bid and trying every 24 hours. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated and let us know how it goes.Good luck. joey2 Posted April 28, 2009 Author Report Posted April 28, 2009 To book now they want full payment non refundable unless i want pay 3 dollers a day cancellation protection.I think they have an early bird special up untill 31mayDo you think we will find a convertible at decent price by then and do you think I should book the back up with the cancellation protection?
thereuare Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I can't say if rates what rates will do between now and the next three months, but i do think that $13 'all-in' is an EXCELLENT deal... if you'd prefer to leave the window open for a better deal than pay the $12 insurance as it seems like a small price to pay given how low the rate is.
