thereuare Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates for your date(s) are very expensive. We can certainly try to bid up to $140, but i'm doubtful you'll be successful. Do you currently have a back-up reservation (if so, where and how much?)Most users typically select MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS as the 'centrally located' zones. You may want to take a look at this thread where i describe each of the PRICELINE NYC ZONES.Let us know what zone(s) you prefer after reading the above as well as the info about a back-up reservation. We'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rogerb Posted September 14, 2004 Author Report Posted September 14, 2004 I think i would be interested in MTE, MTS, MTW in that order. I already have the Super 8 on Times Square for 128 +Tax. From the pictures on the Super 8 homepage it looks pretty cool. But its on Times Square and i heard this area gets dangerous at night. Is that enough info? Know by any chance why my dates are so expensive? Thank you so much for yer helpRoger
thereuare Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 The simple answer as to the high rates is that it's close to last minute and most of the hotels are already booked. As hotels see dates in the future with low occupancy they begin to drop their rates... by the time it's two days before check-in most of them (in a city such as NYC) have already enticed enough guests to book and they're no longer at such low occupancy levels. As well, anyone that hasn't booked this close to check-in may be in a 'jam' to get a hotel (not refering to you since you have a back-up reservation) and the hotel will take advantage of that by posting high rates. Some people think they can get good rates showing up late at nite and asking for a room... thinking that the room will otherwise go vacant and the hotel won't collect any revenue if the don't have a guest in it. From the hotel's perspective they think, "this guy is showing up at 11pm with no place to sleep... i doubt he'll drive down the road to the next 4 hotels to see if he can get it a few dollard cheaper."If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read this link: PRICELINE 72 HOUR RULE and ask any questions that you may have. You have 2 re-bids available at the 4* level and one re-bid at the 3* level. This is how i would proceed to get up to your $140 maximum:Select 4* MTE and...Bid $120, if rejected add MTW and...Bid $125, if rejected add MTS and...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $140.If that is rejected close that browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 3* MTE and...Bid $120, if rejected add MTW and...Bid $130, if rejected add MTS and...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $140.
