Tried to bid for 3.5* for $80. Got countered offered @ $110 on Priceline (Note there will be $15/day resort fee on top so $125/night+tax). In my rush, my friends gave me until 5pm, otherwise they were going to reserve Rio at $220+/night. I'm a Vegas regular, and to be a regular, can't afford those prices. So I took it and got the Westin.

I know what the possiblities are in South Strip (3.5-4 star) MGM, Luxor, The Westin, Monte Carlo, or Planet Hollywood. My least favorite is what I ended up getting... The Westin. Thinking it has no casino, I was wrong. Looking on their website, it is called Casino & Spa.

Not sure what's going on that weekend but prices are certainly HIGH. I ended clicking the link on Priceline for $110 offer and got The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa. 160 E. Falmaingo Rd

My gut tells me prices should go down as they can't fill up the vacancies but you never know about this town and what events or convetion they have going on.

Update... found out why that weekend prices are up... it's Fight Weekend. I have no clue what fight and who's fighting.
