Hey there,

I am traveling to New York July 17-22 and need a place to stay.

I have been reading all over this site to see how both Hotwire and Priceline both work. And I have several questions before I fire out some bids ect:

1) What is the best area for a couple (mid 20s) to stay as far as typical tourist stuff goes... South, Theatre, Mid west/east/central, ect...

2) Why are people afraid that they are not going to get their area when they do not select numerous areas.

3) Am I better off going through priceline or hotwire. From what i have read - hotwire can more likely get you the hotel that you think you are getting and priceline is a little cheaper but a little more of a crap shoot?

4) I am not too picky. I am thinking the 4star places are more appealing - they seem to go for 100-180 ish. The cheaper the better with that I assume.

5) What is the purpose of us using the link to the site. Do you get some benefit for sending business their way. If so, I will be sure to use the link - just curious.

6) What is the best way to go from here?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Kind Regards,

ty

Welcome to BetterBidding :)

What is the best area for a couple (mid 20s) to stay as far as typical tourist stuff goes... South, Theatre, Mid west/east/central, ect...

This is a good link to start with: NYC zones

Am I better off going through priceline or hotwire. From what i have read - hotwire can more likely get you the hotel that you think you are getting and priceline is a little cheaper but a little more of a crap shoot?

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

Why are people afraid that they are not going to get their area when they do not select numerous areas.

I don't know what you're refer to here. But you will only get the zone you bid for with PRICELINE

I am not too picky. I am thinking the 4star places are more appealing - they seem to go for 100-180 ish. The cheaper the better with that I assume.

Dates are rate sensitive. This would be easier to answer when we know if you're going with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. It also depends on what zone you decide to stay in.

What is the best way to go from here?

The main thing is to decide the zone for your stay. Then it's using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.

Just post if you have further questions.
