hcm Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I'm pleased with this win; however, the price was far higher than most other recent wins, including my own - probably because of the Cherry Blossom Festival and/or other big events driving up occupancy rates in DC this week. I will spare the details of my bidding experience except to say that I made 27 bids over the course of five days (using dummy zones to get more chances), starting at $60, to get either a 3* or 4* in Georgetown or WH area. For this trip really wanted the Renaissance M in Gtown, but they must be pretty full, because while others recently got this hotel for $80, I got up to $110 and still didn't get it. Also would have been happy at the Mayflower for $80, but that too was not available even up to $110.I had also figured I would get the dodgy Residence Inn Vermont Avenue for $60, but was rejected all the way up to $75.Hope this is helpful. By they way, also bid on the second night (4/15), and results were not better. On Expedia, many hotels are sold out on 4/15.Still, JW Marriott is selling for $399 on Expedia, so $110 is a good win. I've just never had to work this hard on Priceline before!PS - used the PRICELINE link at the top left of this forum.
