billmag Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Greetings-I am trying to make a bid for a 3* in St. Thomas from 5/24 - 6/2 (and various subsets of that date range).I've noticed that while there are no 2.5* hotels listed on priceline.com's normal reservation system for that price range, it is listed as a valid option when using name your own price. Thus, can I change my star rating down to 2.5 without any risk that a hotel other than the 3 and 3.5* hotels will be selected?-Bill
AaronJB Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)The bidding and retail sides of PRICELINE are different. While some hotels may be the same star rating on both sides, there may be some hotels that you will only see on the retail side and some only on the bidding side. If 2.5* is an option for the area you are selecting, then you can potentially get hotels at the 2.5* level. No 2.5* hotels have been reported on this site yet as wins, but again, if PRICELINE is listing it as a bidding option, then there are potentially 2.5* hotels to be bid on.2.5* may be a new bidding option in that area, as well; I'm not familiar with the zone. Please use the site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start your purchases.
