ajg Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 I am trying to get a 4 star hotel in Seattle for my husband, me and our two daughters (over 18 years) for one night June 25th. We want either a room with 2 queen/double beds or two smaller but separate double rooms -- whatever is cheaper. Do you have suggestions on how to bid so that we can get a room with 2 double/queen beds? Or will the hotel take a lower bid if we want 2 rooms? We would be fine with any of the 4 star hotels listed on Priceline as available that day though some are not as central as others. And here is another idea: if we decide to bid for the only 5 * hotel in Seattle (the Fairmount), what price do you think we should start? The same question about # of beds applies, too. Thanks for any help. ajg
AaronJB Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 PRICELINE does not guarantee 2 beds in a room, as I believe it states (or at least it used to if it doesn't still) on the page where you bid. If you want two beds in one room, the best way I could suggest would be to look to see what's available on HOTWIRE. If you searched for 4 adults in one room on HOTWIRE, you would be guaranteed of bedding for all four. The Fairmont (or any 5*'s in Seattle) has never been reported as a win on PRICELINE.Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchase.
ajg Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 (thru your link ) $126 plus tax for total of $149. Hotwire only listed one choice was listed for a 4* downtown for 4 adults in one room --- Amenities were internet business restaurant and fitness. No mention of pool. Traveler rating 4.0 out of 5 Based on 320+ customer reviews (Last reviewed March 2009) I figured from what had been posted here and by comparison it was the Sheraton. True. The rate for 2 people was $99 -- for 4 people in a room $125. plus taxes. $100 less than all other sites.I really need 2 beds in that room, and called the hotel at the number listed on my Hotwire confirmation -- only 5 minutes after making the reservation -- and the offsite reservations clerk said my room was listed as having 2 double beds in the room. Time will tell! Thanks for this helpful website -- I needed all the advice to make this booking.

I went to Hotwire, searched for 4 adults / 1 room and found one 4* hotel and booked it. Used this link to do it. I posted the info on the Hotwire forum. ajg
AaronJB Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Merged your two threads. Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Glad I was able to help - this is an excellent win, and at least this way you are ensured of bedding for 4. Well-reviewed Sheraton, too. :)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link to start your bidding, as well.Enjoy your stay.
