monika992 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Hi all. I am new to the board. I have not used PRICELINE before and am a little anxious to use it for the first time. I am scared to get a bad hotel.I have reviewed the list of hotels available on Priceline in NYC. I am looking for a 4* hotel in Time Square for the night of May 8th. After looking at the list available, I really want either the Renaissance Time Square or the Muse. I've searched for winning bids on these and I haven't seen any posted recently. I wonder if they are still offering rooms on PRICELINE.What are my chances of getting one of these hotels, and how much do you think I have to bid to get either one? I don't really want to spend more than $200. I feel that should be reasonable, given the current economic client.Any advice? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel and if there are hotels in the zone at the star level that you're bidding that you don't want, then i don't think you should use PRICELINE as you're only setting yourself up for potential disappointment.HOTWIRE may be an option for you as you can often take an educated guess as to what the hotel you're being offered is based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. Are you willing to consider hotels outside of Times Square? If so, HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone which is a match for both the Grand Hyatt and Inter-Continental Barclay. Still no guarantees, but at just $129/nite it's well within your budget and a good way to try an 'opaque purchase' for this one nite stay.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. monika992 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks for the advice. I will probably use Hotwire so I can try to make an educated guess about the hotel. I will just keep my eyes peeled for one that may seem like it may be the one I am interested in and will probably be posting again for help figuring out what is what! Thanks!
monika992 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 4 star hotel in Times square/ Theatre district area for the night of May 8 for $189 on HOTWIREAmenities it lists arefitness centerrestaurantinternet accessbusiness center
thereuare Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread, if you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll then move the entire thread to that section of the board. The above is a match for both the Millenium Broadway and the Crowne Plaza, however, HOTWIRE also shows Tripadivisor information for this property of 3.5/5.0 with 400+ reviews which matches the Crowne Plaza so that would be ou r best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
