Priceline Hotel: 4* Vancouver (Downtown) Sutton Place

Sorry for duplicate post, just found "new topic" button. Hotwire lists a 5-star hotel in Vancouver for $95 for night of May 17, with amenities of fitness center, poo., restaurant, business center, Internet, golf nearby and spa services. The list of pinned hotels, which does not seem to have been updated since 2003, shows the Pan Pacific Hotel and Sutton Placehotels (there is a Grande Residence at Sutton Place, but that's a condo, and Hotwire does list a separate offer of a 5-star hotel/condo for about $160). Are there any others? Offhand, this sounds as good or better than what I could get through Priceline, where I could just bid on 4-star or above. All of the 5-star options on Hotwire seem to be near the cruise ship port Canada Place. I gather that if I get two rooms through Hotwire they would be registered for different names, even if I pay with one credit card, so if our friends arrive several hours ahead of us they would be able to check in (or would I, as the purchaser, need to show my I.D.?). With Priceline I know we could check in separately.

The set of amenities is a match for Sutton Place, so that would be my guess. The hotel lists are updated regularly; the 2003 date you see is the date that the list was created. The Sutton Place and Pan Pacific hotels are the only known 5* hotels on Hotwire; both are rated 4* on Priceline. You will generally get better deals through Priceline, but you won't have the possibility of identifying the hotel you'll get beforehand.

I haven't purchased multiple rooms on Hotwire before, but I assume that you can assign different names to each room. Like Priceline, you can book a hotel room on behalf of another person without having to stay there yourself. The person whose name is on the reservation is the one who must show ID at check-in.

Sutton Place. 2 rooms. First bid (guess I should have bid lower, but it's enough of a savings that I shouldn't complain). Forgot to use the link on this site when I went to Priceline, but will for our next bid. Although it's on my credit card, our friends will check in first. I listed them as responsible for the first room, and Priceline's customer service department had previously said that should not be a problem. Should I contact the hotel to confirm?

Since you put your friends name in the PRICELINE booking wouldn't i be worried. But if you want to be on the safe side can you call the hotel.

Thanks, I will contact the hotel for sure, since I just noticed I used the other person's first, middle and maiden names, and left off her married name (she uses all four on her credit card; she and her husband will use the room but I put her name down since charges will be on her credit card). Priceline's FAQs say no name changes permitted. I would hope the hotel wouldn't quibble, especially since the name as it currently appears will be on the woman's passport and credit card (just need to add the married name).
