jrb Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Hello,I am a social studies teacher who has never been to DC!!! :) Money is always tight so I am trying to get a good deal. I am looking for a hotel for 2 adults and a 12 year old. We are going to DC from April 18 to April 23rd. I heard priceline doesn't offer more than accomodations for 2 so I have been searching hotwire. Could you tell me what hotels the following might be???3 star, georgetown $174 fitness, pool, rest, bus center, laundry, internet3 star, dupont cir. Embassy row $184 boutique, fitness, rest, bus center, internet3 star, Arlington $139 no smking, shuttle, fitness, pool, rest, bus center, , internet3 star, Crystal City Reagan DCA $149 fitness, pool, rest, bus center, laundry, Thank you so very much. I look forward to your reply ~JRB
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Rather than the 3* Georgetown or the 3* Dupont, I'd suggest the 4* Hilton Washington on Orbitz.com for $186. Use the coupon code FABSAVE10 for 10% off each night = about $168. That rate is for 2 beds. The site's HOTWIRE hotel list for DC is located here: http://www.betterbidding.com/show.php/showtopic/91Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your site, and please ask if you have any questions before booking.
jrb Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 I just tried to book the room at the Hilton, and they don't have any more rooms available. Could you give me a few other options? Thanks again~ JRB

Could you give me a few other options? Thanks again~ JRBIf you're willing to split your stay:4/18-21 on HOTWIRE:a 3.5* in the Dupont/Embassy Row area for $89. (fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet)4/21-23:Either bid on PRICELINE or take the Capitol Skyline hotel for $192 via Expedia.comThe first three days of this trip are much more reasonably priced than the last two (something going on in DC on 21st-23rd?). You could get something for much cheaper on the first three days and then have some flexibility to bid higher for the last two. Please use the site's PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, Orbitz or Expedia.com links and ask if you have any questions.
jrb Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 School Vacation Week!!!What about the 4 star in Alexandria/ Old Town:no smokingfitnessswimmingrestaurantbusiness centerlaundryInternet 4.5 trip advisor. I would really like to be in the city, but we may need to look to the suburbs. Do you not like what is on hotwire presently for those days in town?~JRB
AaronJB Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Well, my thought was to try to find some way - even if it mean splitting your stay between hotels - to keep the price down (not easy when you look at all 5 nights, but quite a bit easier when you look at the first 3 nights only) and still be in the city - that's why I suggested the Dupont/Embassy 3.5* on HOTWIRE for $89 for the first 3 nights. You could do that and then spend the last 2 days in the suburbs. The 4* in the Alexandria area would likely be the Westin.
jrb Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 Thank you for your quick reply. Changing hotels midway would be a real pain - so I would rather find a hotel a bit farther away - If you were me - and could only stay at one hotel - and you had a 12 year old - and you were a tourist - where would you stay?JRB
AaronJB Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 The potential Westin in Alexandria looks like a good option - given how expensive prices are in DC on these dates - but to offer up a cheaper suggestion, there is a deal at the Virginian Suites in Alexandria - $89 for the first two nights, $139 for the last three. Use promo code TZOO on the hotel website when booking on the hotel website (http://www.virginiansuites.com)You'd get free breakfast for 2 and that hotel has shuttle to the nearby Metro station. You would get 1 bed + sofa bed, but on the positive side, you'd get a kitchen and larger suite room. On the downside, outdoor pool. The Westin Alexandria would have an indoor pool. The potential HOTWIRE Westin deal would be the other best option - please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start that purchase if you go that route.
jrb Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 I just booked at the Virginian Suites! I don't know how you do it - you are amazing. Thank you for your time and energy. I was getting a little worried we wouldn't find anything. You're the best ~ JRB
