Ippo456 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 24-28 April 2009 for 2 adults.I paid $74/night. When I tried to do a bid again (for fun), price for 4 stars downtown location went up to $77/night.Amenities: Fitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessWhat got me confused is that on this thread, it lists Intercontinental as not having a pool.On the hotel's website, it lists the hotel as having an indoor pool.I know that this hotel is currently undergoing renovation. So, I'm hoping that for the price that I paid, I'll be getting the renovated room & not the old room.I've never used Hotwire before & was very suspicious (due to its low rates & the fact that bidders won't know the hotel name until payment is completed), but this forum made me somewhat confident to go with Hotwire.Does anybody know if I'll be getting 1 King or 2 double beds? Or can I request for 2 double beds upon check in? If the room only has a King bed, can I pay extra upon check in for a roll-away bed? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Congratulations on your success and welcome to the site.Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Five years ago, when I first saw HOTWIRE, I thought, "Who would want to use that?" Now, I don't see a reason to go back to paying full price. If you searched for two people when booking with HOTWIRE, you are only guaranteed 1 bed. If you searched for more than 2 people, you are guaranteed some sort of bedding for your whole party (2 beds or 1 bed + 1 sofabed.) If you need 2 beds, I would call the hotel to put in a *request* The thread you mention does show the Intercontinental as having a pool, but there have been times in the past where it has not. Below the hotel on that page, it does say "VP showing pool again." It was crossed out because people in the past have reported it showing up without a pool icon. The way a hotel appears on HOTWIRE can change over time in order to keep the service opaque.Have a great trip.
