Hotwire Hotel: 3* Tampa (Tampa East-Brandon) La Quinta Tampa Brandon Inns and Suite

Hello all

I am trying to get the Hyatt Place in Tampa Busch Gardens for May 8 and May 9. When I look at Hotwire listings for those nights there is only one 3* in Busch Gardens and it doesnt show a breakfast so it cant be Hyatt Place? Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a family of 5 so the suite is a must and the breakfast is awesome at the Hyatt Places?

A frequent question on the site is "Can I Get Hotel __________?" HOTWIRE shows a particular set of hotels for each location and each date/set of dates; unfortunately, if a hotel is not showing, then it is not available on the service for these dates. With PRICELINE, there's no way to bid for a particular property.

We are going to be in Tampa From May 8 - May 10 so only need for Friday and Saturday Night.

I was wondering if perhaps some of the hotels only release to HOTWIRE or PRICELINE as it gets closer to the period? So if I check in a week there might be more availability?

HOTWIRE only shows one hotel in each zone at each star level (the one with the lowest rate is shown)... so you will never see more than one hotel at the same rating in a given zone.

I can see a 3*, $51, W/breakfast in Tampa East - Brandon when searching HOTWIRE for 4 adults at your dates. It's a short drive to BG.

Yes that is the Staybridge Suites Sabal Park from what I can tell. I read the reviews for that at tripadvisor and some were not really that great. I have stayed at Hyatt Place's before so I know their service. That and the fact that the Hyatt Place is only minutes from BG is why I wanted the Hyatt Place. If I have to I will do that Brandon one but I was hoping to not have to.

Is this something new that they are doing? The last time I booked through hotwire (last January 2008) I know there were multiple options. Is there any way to display all of the options at a particular star level?

This is the way it has always been... you may see one hotel and one condo at the same star level in the same zone, but that's it (never more than one hotel or more than one condo) This system encourages hotels to discount their rates so that their hotel is the one that is offered.

We just purchased two nights through Hotwire for a 3* in Tampa East - Brandon expecting to get the Staybridge Suites Sabal Park as shown at Hotwire Hotel List. We were fine with that one because of its full breakfast offered. Instead we got the La Quinta Tampa Brandon Inns and Suites which only has a continental breakfast and really has not gotten good reviews. The La Quinta is not even on your list of possible options.

I know it is not your fault as you can only guess what will be awarded but I am totally disappointed in my result. My teenage sons were really looking forward to the waffle breakfast and such. Now they get to have muffins....wooo freaking hoo..

Anyhow, I just thought I should let people know to be aware that the HOTWIRE results are not matching your predictions at this time.

I am sorry for my rant in my previous message. After looking further through the reviews it doesnt sound like this one is as bad as it initially sounded.

Sorry to hear that the results were not what you expected. However, the HOTWIRE lists on the site are made up of what people have reported.

At the top of the list: "This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Hotwire offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Hotwire all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change, so it's always a good idea to look at the Hotwire map before purchasing.

In light of the above, you MAY get a hotel that is NOT on this list, or get a hotel on this list but at a star level you didn't expect (if the star rating has changed)."

While a hotel can be reported with a certain set of amenities, that doesn't mean that another hotel with the same set of amenities can't suddenly start appearing as a win. The Staybridge Suites may still be coming up with those same amenities, but now the La Quinta is, too.

Again, sorry that you were disappointed with the results. A review of the property upon return is welcome.

Sorry to hear this! But you can ask for help at anytime. Amenities hotels and ratings change all the time. This is a new hotel for this zone. So how could the board now that!

But keep all posts in the same thread.

Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities and price shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

Granted it's been nearly 10 days since this win was posted, but doing a current HOTWIRE search for the above dates (and searching 2adults/2children since you can't search for more than quad occupancy) i see a 3* hotel in this zone with the following amenities:

Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Laundry

Assuming this is the property the OP purchases, this is NOT a match for the Staybridge Suites as previously assumed, as that property has previously been reported with a Business icon, so assuming this is the property purchases, the Staybridge and the La Quinta do not necessarily have the same amenity icons.

As noted above, the amenities of the property you purchased don't match those of the Staybridge Suites, which has previously shown the amenities above plus a business icon, so that should have been the first tip-off that this may not have been the property you were being offered.

Feel free to confirm with the board what you believe you're seeing before your next opaque purchase.
