Priceline Hotel: Help with NYC bidding strategy

Hey,

I would like some pointers on a re-bid strategy for NYC.

I would like to stay in a 3* or better in one of the following areas for as cheap as possible, but no more than about $105 if possible:

Chelsea, Downtown, Empire State, Madison Square Garden.

I see a lot of people are winning the Wyndham Garden Midtown for only $95 around the same time that we are travelling. I would love to get this hotel, but I'm aware its impossible to know for certain which hotel you will end up with.

So: what amount should I start with? AND: more importantly, what are the free rebid zones in NYC? I would hate to do this wrong and end up in Brooklyn somewhere!

You need to know how to identify your re-bid zones on your own, as they can change at any time and therefore need to be checked before every bidding cycle to make sure nothing has changed. If we told you the re-bid zones, they could change between the time we post and the time you bid, and you coudl end up in a different area.

However, at the 3* level you have NO re-bid zones (if you increase your minimum star rating to 3.5* you'll have THREE re-bid zones)

I have no problem increasing the star level. I'm just afraid that I won't be able to get a hotel at the price I would like at 3.5*.

Lets say I do increase the star level. Would it even be worth it to start bidding at anything lower than $95?
