Priceline Hotel: New Orleans July 25-27 - bidding advice

I just booked a cruise and would like to stay Saturday and Sunday night for some sightseeing. I have looked at other sites and other advice on here and I was thinking that I would be safe to be in the $50-60 zone. I would like suggestions for a Priceline bidding strategy.

I would prefer to be in the French Quarter area, but would be willing to look Downtown or in the Business District. I would like to pay no more than $75 per night if possible.

Did you want to bid up to your $75 limit for the French Quarter only OR are you looking for the least expensive hotel in any of these three zones?

Also, what star rating your trying for?

I would prefer a 4* and would be willing to pay more. I will take a 3* or 3.5*. After re-thinking, I also would be willing to bid as high as $100 a night, but of course, I want to get the best deal I can get.

My first preference is French Quarter, but the other two would be acceptable as well. I just really want to be within walking distance of all the stuff in the French Quarter so really am not picky.

So to confirm, you want the least expensive 4* or better in the French Quarter, Downtown, or Business District? (not sure which zone you're refering to as PRICELINE doesn't have a "business district" zone)

If this is correct HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Downtown zone for $79/nite (Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business) with a TA rating of 3.5/5.0 with 200+ reviews... best guess for this property is the Sheraton.

If this works for your needs (locationwise) you may want to consider purchasing this from HOTWIRE, otherwise if you're willing to accept a property anywhere in any of the above zones, you can try to beat this rate by using PRICELINE.

If you pursue PRICELINE you have FIVE re-bid zones at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Unless your dates are Jass Fest you can bid 4star in the French Quarter for $60 and you will most likely get the Merriott on Cannal street;very nice and safe!
