samizdat77 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Looking for a hotel - preferably 4 star, but would look at a 3 1/2 star - for 7/15 - 7/22. Any tips on what I should bid? Is there sufficient choice in CPS that I am likely to get something in this zone?many thanks
samizdat77 Posted April 4, 2009 Author Report Posted April 4, 2009 What would be your budget per night?Hi Aaron hoping to pay no more than $120... but would welcome any thoughts.
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Let me see what I can find - be back in a few minutes.
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in the Chelsea-MSG area with the amenities: fitness, business, restaurant, internet for $115 (the price you see may vary slightly.) That would be the Doubletree Chelsea - while not a 4*, I suggest it because it is a new property (I believe it doesn't open until May) and should still be pretty fresh in July. Otherwise, HOTWIRE prices are around $150-170 for a 4*; while that's more than what you want to spend, it's suggestive that PRICELINE rates for a 4* may very well be in your budget range. If you were interested in something a little more funky, the Hudson is $128 for your dates, on sale on Quikbook.com. That would be in the CPS area. The Hudson is also $124 if you just select 7/18-22 on Quikbook; you could stay there for 4 days and stay at a different hotel for the first half if you wanted a change of scenery in the middle of your trip.In terms of bidding for a 4* on PRICELINE, if you are comfortable with any of the Midtown areas, I'd probably suggest bidding primarily in Midtown East, starting off at $105 for a 4*; if that isn't accepted, $110 24 hours later. Please use the site's PRICELINE, Quikbook.com or HOTWIRE links.
