First, second, and third bids of $45, $46, and $48 were rejected. Fourth bid was accepted @ $50. I was able to bid four times in a row by adding locations that I knew didn't have 3 star or above accommodations.

I attempted to bid so low this time because about a week and a half ago, on March 24th, I needed a last minute hotel within 24 hours. I won a bid for the 3* Admiral Fell Inn (Inner Harbor-Downtown-Fells Point) for $50/night 3/25-3/27. The next day, when I arrived to check-in, the hotel clerk notified me that there was going to be an additional $9.95/night destination fee. I agreed hesitantly, because I didn't feel like arguing. The paper he printed out for me to sign for that destination fee showed a room rate of $44/night. I asked him about it, and he told me it must be some computer glitch.

I was in a hurry, so I didn't probe anymore, but I was later thinking that I may have been able to bid that room at $44/night. So for those of you that may be bidding in the Inner Harbor-Downtown area on a 3* hotel within 24 hours, you may want to start a bid bellow $50 depending on the time of year and availabilities.

Another thing about the Holiday Inn that I just won. I noticed that it was on Hotwire going for $66/night, which was also a good deal, but I saved over $100 by using PRICELINE. Except with HOTWIRE, I would at least be able to call the hotel and put in a request for the type of room I want right away.

Goodluck, and if anyone has any suggestions on cheap or free parking in that area, please email me, or my Priceline savings will go straight to the parking deck..lol

Actually you can call the hotel with your room type request when using either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, the differnce is that PRICELINE only guarnatees double occupancy, while HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy.... so if you have more than double occupancy or need two beds in the room, there is no way to guarantee this with PRICELINE as the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to accomodate your request (and there may be an additional fee involved for more than double occupancy) whereas searching HOTWIRE for quad occupancy ensures two separate sleeping accomodation in the room (although the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway cot, etc and not necessarily a 'true' bed)
