Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago Loop & 4.5* Mag Mile Area - Streeterville

I friend told me about this website. I'm a first time user and poster so hopefully I do this right. I checked Hotwire and came up with these two possibilities for the dates we are going to be in Chicago. As my buddies and I have never been to Chicago before, I'm assuming these are the areas we want to be in to be around the attractions/ restaurants/ night life, etc. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Travel dates: April 16-19. Looking for 2 rooms.

The first listing would be a likely match for the Palmer House. The second (4.5/Mag Mile) would likely be the James.

While the James is $30 more, it is certainly closer to more nightlife. The area around the Palmer is pretty quiet at night. The James is also more a W Hotel-style boutique property, where the Palmer is a giant, historic hotel that mainly caters to conventions. I usually try to recommend the cheaper option, but in this case, the potential James would be the better fit for what you're looking for.

Wow, that was quick! Thanks for the insight. You're right about the location. We'd rather be where there is more going on...since girlfriends and wives are going to be on this trip! I'll present this to my buddies and try and convince the group to book soon since it's in a few weeks. When I do I'll be sure and re-post the results and see what we get!

If you are interested in booking what is potentially the James, I wouldn't wait too long, as HOTWIRE listings could change between now and then (and prices could also change at any time.)

Thanks for the advice. If it was only me I'd be all over that deal, however, a few in my group wanted to wait. They are waiting to see if two of them can get free nights using their frequent stay deals since two of them travel for business quite a bit.

That hotel (and price) is likely already different now. I'll keep checking on HOTWIRE and ask again when we decide what to use. Although, if it's not better than a HOTWIRE deal, I'll probably use Hotwire at lease for my hotel room.

I didn't want to be the newbie that doesn't update their own thread. Sorry for getting ahead of myself (or my group as it is).
