Sherlock
First try at this, read most of the stuff.San Diego DowntownApril 29th and 30thWhere should I start the bidding?I think we have 3 hotels(all that appeal to me)Don't want to screw up on re-bid zones. How many do I have?Plan on bidding thru this site on Saturday April 4 and want all my ducks in a row.Next time I won't be such a pain.Thanxs in advance.Sherlock Link to comment
yellowdog
Welcome to the board! It's very important that you have this under control and understand it or you can end up in the wrong zone that you don't want. Please read this link: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedYou're welcome to post your zones if you would like the board to comfirm them.YellowDog. AaronJB
"I think we have 3 hotels(all that appeal to me)"Keep in mind when you bid on PRICELINE for a certain star rating in a certain area, you could get any of the hotels at that star rating in that area.A lot of people want a specific hotel (or have their sights set on specific hotels) - that's not the way that PRICELINE works; it offers cheaper prices because you have to be flexible and be willing to accept what the service gives you.Additionally, are you staying the nights of the 29th and 30th or checking out on the 30th? Sherlock
First off thanxs for the help so far. Much friendlier than "the other" site.Staying 29 and 30 Checking out May 1st.Re-read all the material and think I have three re-bid sites that have no 3.5 stars.I think going 3* or 4* might be less confusing, but I'll try this any way.If I screw up(hopefully not) it's only two nights. Hope the wife agrees. lolSafe re-bid sites:EscondidaChula VistaRancho Santa Fe(has one 4* so no good?)All show no 3*Used Priceline siteCould someone see if I got that right, please. What price should I start at???Thanxs again.Sherlock Link to comment
thereuare
It's not entirely clear, but i think you're trying to determine your re-bid zones for when bidding on a 3.5* hotel? If so, you actually have EIGHT re-bid zones available.Keep in mind that you're not just looking for zones that don't 3.5* rated proprerties, but zones which have nothing at 3.5* or higher... there are currently eight such zones in San Diego. Please try to determine your EIGHT re-bid zones and list them here for us to confirm, if you're confused and not sure how to get started, list all San Diego zones and the highest star rating available in each zone, using the following method:-click the first zone in the list-scroll down and note the highest rated hotel in that zone-UNCHECK the first zone, place a checkmark next to the second zone in the list-scroll down and note the highest rated hotel in that zone-UNCHECK the current zone, place a chechkmark next to the next zone in the listetc, etc, etcLet us know what you find or if you have questions regarding the above. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
Congratulations... you have your re-bid zones correct :) (and i applaud your desire to learn vs. "can't you just tell me")Remember that hotels can be added/removed/ugraded/downgraded at anytime, so you should always doublecheck your re-bid zones before starting a bidding cycle. If you've checked them previously, you can use this site, RE-Bidding.com to quickly doublecheck to make sure nothing has changed. Now that we have our re-bid zones straightened out, let us know your maximum bid (so we don't provide a strategy that goes higher than you're willing to spend) and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Sherlock
Looked at a few successful bids and thinking of starting at $50...with a top out of $80Is that about right to start at?If I get to $80 unsuccessfully I might try for a 4* instead.Hoping to give it a go tonight, after I hear back from you.Kind of enjoying it so far........want to get the prize. One other thing. I go through your link and if rejected I or they make a counter offer I go back to this site?? Not sure about this yet. Want to make sure you get yours.Thanxs Link to comment
AaronJB
Rates are date specific, so what others have gotten for different dates isn't necessarily an indicator of what you should bid. I think, give the time you have, $50-55 sounds about right (although it may be a bit lowball) as a floor and $80 as a ceiling, although if something is going on in the area on these dates you may have to bump the ceiling up to around $90.
