flyme2 Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 My wife and I have been here a few times, always on PL stays. Due to my Hyatt Diamond status, we are always given a harbor view room on a high floor, a Diamond amenity of our choosing and breakfast coupons entitling us to the full hot/cold buffet ($16.95 p/p value). I would have to assume that non status members would not benefit from these perks. Nontheless, I have found it never hurts to vocalize requests. A harbor view room overlooking the Boston skyline is certainly worth asking about. The public areas and general overall appearance of this hotel are quite good and well maintained. Staff are professional, friendly and generally competent. Rooms are average size and are beginning to need some sprucing up. I would rate them below the usual Hyatt standard. An annoying thing is the spring tension on the room door closers that causes them to slam shut with a loud bang. This can be a little disconcerting. Furnishings are still in good condition without too much sign of wear and tear. There are no in-room safes. Bathrooms are not overly large, but relatively clean. Signs of mildew were apparent on some of the grout surrounding the tub, but I've seen much worse at many other Northeastern hotels. The best feature of the room was the spectacular view of the Boston skyline, especially at night. Restaurant staff are a little more disorganized. Breakfast offerings are the normal hotel buffet fare, as well as a la carte choices. I've been very happy with the steak and eggs ($12.95) I usually order. I've never had dinner there.Overnight parking is $22 compared with about $16 at economy airport lots. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the airport terminals and the nearby "T" station at 20 minute intervals. Fare for the short ride into town on the "T" is $1.25. Water taxis and the Harbor Express can be boarded at the pier directly adjacent to the hotel, and fares to Long Wharf are about $10 one way. MBTA also provides a free shuttle bus (66) between this pier and the airport terminals.Overall, I like this hotel because of the cheap PL rate (usually around $50 at the time of writing) and because of my Hyatt status perks. I think a 4* rating is a bit of an overstatement. A solid 3* would be more accurate.
modernist Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Update on the prices,I stayed here on January 5 and 6, 2008.I got it for $60 per night+ taxes.Parking rate is now $32 for self parking $36 for valet parking with in and out privileges.I opted for the $18 economy lot(no in and out) and it is $18 from 4-24 hours. The shuttle bus will some times take you to the economy lot 2.I agree that it is a solid 3 star and not a 4 star.
