Priceline Hotel: help with 5* strip on 4 July weekend

Hi,

I'd like to book two rooms in a five star hotel on the Strip (pref not Trump, but I know that with Priceline it's an option "you can't refuse") for two nights arriving on 3 July. I checked hotwire and they offer a 5* room for 169 per night, so that would be my max. That one is probably the Venetian or Wynn (and I have stayed at both the Palazzo and the Venetian before).

What would be the best bidding strategy?

Before bidding, i'd suggest adjusting your maximum bid (but it's up to you)... since you'd rather not land the Trump, is being able to avoid it worth anything to you? For example, given the non-Trump 5* hotel on HOTWIRE for $169/ntie, if you bid up to $165 and landed the Trump, wouldn't it have been better to just take the 'known' non-Trump property for a little bit more?

If so, the question is how much would you need to save vs. the $169/nite rate to still make the Trump acceptable and a 'good deal'? $10?? $20?? $30?? $50?? This number will differ for each person depending upon their needs and how interested they are in trying to avoid the Trump, but given your previous comments, i would think it would be worth something to you and you should lower your maximum bid accordingly.

Let us know your thoughts and 'new' maximum bid (if you decide to change it) and we'll sugest a strategy for you to follow.
