Priceline Hotel: 3.5*- 4* Savannah Hist. Dist.

I am going to Savannah from 4/17 to 4/24 and want to stay in the Historic District. I tried bidding through priceline for my stay but have been rejected each time. I started my bid at $85 for 4* hotel and then 3.5* hotel. I moved up my price each day by $5 increments. My last bid was for $110 and I was rejected. FYI- The lowest price on the hotels website for 4* is Avia Hotel $159 and 3.5* is Hyatt $174.30.

Do you think I should split up my length of stay in my request to get a better price? (i.e. My original request 4/17-4/24 to new requests of 4/17 - 4/20 and then 4/21-4/24). I know that there is a good chance that I would have to change hotels but, I don't mind that. Or do you think I should just bid higher?

I appreciate your imput!

Where are you finding that rate for the Hyatt... i'm seeing rates at $200+ for your dates above.

Also, i wouldn't necessarily assume that SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID down the middle would be the best option as it appear the weekend dates (Friday and Saturday) are more expensive than the midweek dates.

How much would you need to save vs. the $159/nite rate at the Avia to make an opaque purchase worthwhile?

Sorry, one more question...

Did you want to bid up to $129 for a 4* hotel and then drop to a 3.5* if rejected OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better hotel for these dates?

Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

At the 3.5* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)
