flygirl123 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Hello,I am looking for a hotel for a quick one-night stay on 3/24 near the LGA airport. We have 3 adults, and would like to share one room to cut costs. My criteria are 1) free airport shuttle service to LGA, 2) have at least 2.5-star rating, and 3) cost be under $100.I've used the bidding function on Priceline before, but was charged $50 extra for the 3rd person last time in a hotel in Hawaii. I don't want that to happen again. Any advice? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy while HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees sleeping accomodations for everyone you include in your search. If you search HOTWIRE for 3adults are any hotels shown in the LGA zone within your budget? (NOTE: priceline and hotwire each use their own rating system so the star rating with one service will not necessarily be the same as with the other... often the two will have the same ratings, but if/when there is a difference, hotwire is usually a half star higher)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. flygirl123 Posted March 22, 2009 Author Report Posted March 22, 2009 Hotwire's prices, including taxes and fees, are $103.81 for 3* and $115.84 for 2.5* (not sure why a lowered star rating would cost more??). The prices are OK, but is a little more than what I wanted to pay for. Ideally I would want to only pay $80 with taxes and fees included, which I think may be achievable if I bid on Priceline. Has anyone been charged a 3rd-person fee for a room in NYC booked through Priceline's Name-Your-Own-Price? If so, how much do they usually charge?

If so, how much do they usually charge? While some have taken the risk and had no problems... others have take the risk and not only been charged an additional fee, but it's possible to be denied a room entirely as there are some hotel rooms in NYC which only have one bed in them and little/no additional room for a rollaway (and as per fire code can only accomodate double occpancy)It's up to you if you'd like to take the risk or not, but i generally don't recommend it in NYC.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.EDIT: my response above is in regards to staying in Manhattan, didn't re-read the topic title which i now see is for LGA, where i would say the chances of getting a room which can only accomodate one bed and no room for a rollaway are reduced, but you could still be charged an extra fee if you 'get caught' Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
