Have been bidding Priceline for NMA-RN for several days, trying to get a 4* for Sat 4/07 + 3 nights. Not able to get anything under $85 yet despite adding lower star locations to no avail. Could it be a problem that I'm trying to include a Sat night? Have been avoiding adding Millennium Park as last resort because we always seem to end up at the Hyatt and would like to try something different. Appreciate any advice/help.

Just to confirm, you are looking for April 7-10?

If so, I'm not sure why $85 isn't being accepted, since regular rates are cheap (well, relatively speaking for Chicago.)

In fact, Expedia.com has the best price I've ever seen for Sutton Place - $102.67 on sale, plus use coupon code 10MAR for $10 off each night = $92.67.

If this is of interest, please use the site's link to Expedia.com.

Oops messed up the dates in my thread. What I have been bidding on is Sat, April 4th through Tues the 7th. Think it might be a big Spring Break week (that's why we are going) but it is not Easter weekend. Am trying again, will report on progress. Thanks for input.

I would think there's a problem with your bidding, because you it would seem that you should be able to get something at the $85 level... if you look at HOTWIRE for a comparison, there seem to be some reasonable rates there - slightly above the $85 level... and there's a 3.5* hotel with Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Internet and Business amenities at $79.

Now the only hotel match I could find for that could be "4* Hotel Monaco Chicago (previously 4.5*) (moved from LOOP zone)

Amenities: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business"

I don't know how the Monaco could have been knocked from a 4.5 to a 3.5.... but I have friends who swear by the Monaco...good location just south of Wacker Drive... close to Michigan Avenue and State Street.

With regard to PRICELINE...I'd try again...and make sure the dates are correct and everything's right... because $85 is a reasonable offer....

Current rates for yoru dates are reasonable, not cheap... so i'm not totally surprised by your rejected bids at $85 and under since they have only included the NMA zone.

Using HOTWIRE there is a 4.5* hotel in the Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville zone for only $108/nite, and this would seem to make your $85 bids reasoanble, but this property is a match for the Hotel James which has not yet been reported to the board via PRICELINE (so may not be offered thru their service) and after that the 4* and higher hotels are a bit more at $125 and up.

My thoughts... since you're looking for something different, if $108 is within your budget, you may want to consider the HOTWIRE offer as the reviews of this property are excellent.

If this is beyond your budget your options come down to:

-adding the Loop zone

-raising your budget a little

-lower your star rating for the NMA zone

-wait it out and try again in a day or two

Let us know what your thoughts and what you decide or if we can be of further help.
