dkut Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Bidding strategy for a week long vacation in Disneyland. Arriving Sat afternoon 4/25 checkout 5/2. Willing to bid up to $50. Any benefit to splitting the dates for bidding? Changing hotels would not be a major issue. Any advise on using PRICELINE for car rental as well. Thanks!

thereuare Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 At the 3.5* level you have 3 re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Disneyland...Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $41, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Disneyland and re-bid zone3...Bid $44, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $47, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $50I don't think you'll see too much of a price difference if you split the bid, and for me, i'd need to be saving much more than $10 or so to make it worthwhile... i would be trying for the entire stay at first, only then considering to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID. If this is the route you'd like to go i would first try bidding the entire stay using the above. If you decide you want to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID if there is any savings involved, i would try this first for your complete stay:Select 3.5* Disneyland...Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $41, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $44.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know which route you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. dkut Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Changed dates to 4/24 -5/2:Followed the bidding advice above:Bid $37 rejectedbid $41 rejectedbid $43 rejectedclosed browserbid $47 rejected....stopped, looked at winning history(thanks to this site) decided to split stay to see what happened:next day bid again:4/24-4/28:Bid $41 rejected offered to accept bid with $12 increasere-bid $45 offer accepted at Crowne Plaza Anaheim( $12 parking fee stinks) but still saved a ton of $$$ looks like a nice hotelUnfortunately this website is blocked at work so could not use the above link. It appears that the later part of the stay was hindering my first bid as I suspected $50 would be accepted based on history and it would be Marriot Suites or the Doubletree:Tonite using the PRICELINE link above I re-bid 4/28 -5/2 @ $47 and was rejected/ re-bid $50 accepted at Doubletree(saddled with parking fees again) have to mess with the hassle of changing hotels but since we are there for such along time it will break up our stay!****my BIG mistake was after winning the Crowne Plaza I attempted to extend my stay at the winning price but instead of adding one day at a time I tried to extend through 5/2. Anyone out there that tries this feature you are better to extend just one day at a time until you are declined(you cant go back after you are declined)****So, in short I saved a couple dollars($20 bucks is $20 bucks) by splitting the stay at the price of dealing with a little inconvience. Probably should have just bid $50 for the entire week, but hey we will have a great time regardless!Any advice for a rental car for this stay? Looks like it is as simple as starting out a buck or two below a recent win and just re-bid $1-$2 increase everyday?
thereuare Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Thank you for sharing your results with the board. We use a board format of only one win per thread... we'll use this thread to reflect your first purchase of the Crowne Plaza, please start a NEW TOPIC for your Doubletree win. Also, your "extend your stay" methodology is flawed... when offered, you only get one chance to extend your stay (regardless whether your request is accepted or denied) so you can't extend your stay one day at a time as you propose. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin all your future travel purchases.Enjoy your stay(s).
