liar Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 so far it's up to $81 denied...Since victoria only have 2 bidding zones (with airport area nothing over 2.5*) I can't keep trying to bid because I can't change my dates.maybe I will go down to 3.5 or 3* eventually... Was hoping for Delta hah.will keep you guys posted. and I didn't see much talk about getting victoria hotels. I know this is probably the busiest time for victoria hotels so a great deal is probably out of the question...Anyway, I will keep it up and report back my results.oh I did use PRICELINE link :)

liar Posted March 20, 2009 Author Report Posted March 20, 2009 Yes I did check HOTWIRE :) 4* downtown came up fir $148 with these:Boutique Hotel Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Spa ServicesI am guessing Delta because on Delta's web site I can get the same $148 rate a night. Hopefully I can get a price lower than this. This is the only 4* hotwire offered3* on HOTWIRE is $102 with:Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access HOTWIRE does not have a 3.5* for victoria but for PRICELINE they said 3.5* is the "best deal" so I don't know. but at the moment I am shooting for 4* until it hits my limit of $95 :) then I will try the lower ones. I got time. still 4+ months to go :o

inspiration100 Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Victoria will be very nice in July, but probably fairly expensive. I'm curious how the bidding goes so please keep us updated :). The Seattle hotel guy.... Stayed in 14 hotels downtown and counting! Favorite Hotel Downtown: The Camlin Seattle (It's now a timeshare)
liar Posted March 20, 2009 Author Report Posted March 20, 2009 Victoria will be very nice in July, but probably fairly expensive. I'm curious how the bidding goes so please keep us updated :).ok I will :) so a question. I thought 24 hours passed but I guess it didn' t hah, I tried again and it says I have a dupe request but that still showed up on my record as unaccepted at $85. if it's a dupe they didn't even try to match it right?so does that mean my 24-hour wait timer is reset and I have to wait another 24 hours from now?By the way, I could book the Delta on AAA's website for 109 magnolia for 140 and the marriott for 151 so...
liar Posted March 20, 2009 Author Report Posted March 20, 2009 Sigh.... up to $90 not accepted. and only 1 rebid zone (tried 85 then 90) so now wait for tomorrow for my final bid :)It turned out that Delta showed up on AAA for 109 but when I went ahead to book the room it jumped to $145 or $149 so the cheapest 4* on AAA with member discount is $142 with MagnoliaAAA doesn't charge as much fee and Magnolia has free breakfast so it's almost not as expensive and I might just go for that one eventually...
thereuare Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Usually the 24 hour clock will not re-set in the case of a duplicate bid (so you don't need to wait another 24 hours) but there have been instances where it did re-set the clock.Just to clarify (may not be the case in this instance but bears repeating), it's 24 hours from your last bid... so if you start bidding at 4pm adn then user re-bids, go to the kitchen, phone rings, etc, and then you finish bidding at 5pm, you need to wait until 5pm the following day to resume your bidding.Good luck tomorrow. liar Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 I guess it's not meant to be. it's now $115 denied. I have extended my stay in Vancouver by a day with the $84 westin bayshore bid so I am now bidding on 8/3-8/5 but still no luck.I am going to use aaa to book a corner room at magnolia for $150 a day. at least that could be canceled just in case a price drop happens, but I don't think it's likely for that time of the season. But hey I got my rental and hotel in vancour from priceline and hotel in seattle at hotwire, 3 out of 4 ain't too bad :) and thanks everyone on the forum for help :) I am sure I will be regularly visiting you guys :o
thereuare Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 If you back-up reservation is cancellable i wouldn't give up just yet... keep trying PRICELINE as lower priced inventory may be released between now and your check-in date. Thanks for 'concluding' this thread with what you decided to do for this stay... glad you got great deals on 3 out of 4 of your stay. liar Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 I tried to bid 101 for 8/3-8/5 in victoria last night and got denied on PRICELINE :) I will try to raise to 105 or so tonight and see what happens. My backup is always AAA at $140 a night for Delta and no other fees
