Priceline Hotel: 3.5* NYC (MTE) Helmsley New York

Hello!

I'm visiting US with my wife first time in my life. I'm also going through New York City.

I've currently reserved an average hotel for $149 (inc. tax), but I was thinking maybe I could get some better deals with less. My budget is $120 (inc. tax), and if really necessary, it can go up to $150 (inc. tax).

So like I said, this is my first time to NYC. I don't know what would be best place to stay. I have no plans yet etc. I just plan to see the city :-) My only requirement would be, that I would stay in a place that is near a metro, but I've heard NYC is pretty well covered with Metro stops?

So, please help me! Tell me what would be a place to stay and how I should bid?

After lots of bids I got a hotel and I'm happy about it. I got Helmsley for $95. I don't know how to edit the title of this post, but maybe some moderator can do it if necessary. And of course I did the booking through the links of this site.

My bidding history:

First tried for 4* with several rebids:

95 - mte/times

100 - met/times/brooklyn

105 - met/times/brooklyn/chelsea

110 - met/times/brooklyn/chelsea/mtw

115 - met/times/brooklyn/chelsea/mtw/li

120 - met/times/brooklyn/chelsea/mtw/li/msg

125 - met/times/brooklyn/chelsea/mtw/li/msg/mte

Then decided to go for 3.5*:

80 - mte/times

95 - mte/times/mtw - Got Helmsley!

Could've probably got it for a bite less, but I'm happy! Thanks everyone!
