broiler Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 this is how i got the car through priceline for a convertible rental in kahului, maui.i reserve a convertible for 13 days with alamo using costco membership for $660.00 costco lets u have a second driver free ( so i saved $130.00) (additional driver = $10 per day x 13 days = $130)then i went to bid on priceline.the strategy i used is as follows:660-130 = 530 - 75 (the amount i want to save with priceline, in my case the trouble to deal with priceline is 75) = 455so i bid 450.and i got the convertible for 450 on the first try.so if i add second driver to the priceline 450+130 = 580 , i still come out ahead of the costco deal of 660.a saving of $80.after the bid, i noticed that the priceline motto is save up to 30% off the quote price..in my case it was around 32% or something that i calculated.anyway this is for rental for march 8 - 21, 2009.also if you do decided on a one day rental in kahului , maui, and dropping off in kapalua, mauialamo is the only car rental that doesn't charge drop off fee.and priceline doesn't do one day bidding.hope this info's help :)
