Harvey Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I'm planning to attend the New Orleans Jazz Festival on the second weekend 5/1 to 5/4 but am having trouble getting a good rate in the convention center or French Quarter areas. Even at $85/night still getting rejections for a 3 star hotel. New Orleans rates so far this year have been very cheap. Am I bidding too early for May? Or, is the town jammed for the Jazz Festival? Advice please.
swag Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Yes and yes. Which is to say, the town is packed for Jazzfest (and 2nd weekend, when you're going) looks a bit tighter than 1st weekend, this year. Historically, the best PL & HW deals for Jazzfest come either before New Years, or else very close to Fest. If you can handle the uncertainty of waiting until mid-April, something will likely open up. Keep trying, but be patient.

Harvey Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 I booked Marriott's Springhill Suites several weeks ago and have an average rate of about $130+taxes for 3 days.
thereuare Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 It appears that rates have increased since then... as the Springhill Suites is now selling for $199/nite for your dates. So given that rates are now higher, it may be tough to beat your back-up, unless rates come down between now and your stay... keep trying and let us know if you make any headway. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
