cindyl
Hi, my daughter's traveling to NYC and we have tried bidding for a 4* hotel, but with no success. Can anyone help with suggestions? She is flexible, as this is a trip just for sightseeing/fun! We tried: 4*, Times Square, $105 and increased to $125 eventually, adding the following free rebids: Chelsea, Long Island, Upper East and then added MTE, MTW. No luck!Is my price still too low? If anyone can help with strategy, it would be appreciated!!Thanks much! Link to comment
cindyl
I realized I didn't mention our maximum bid... Was hoping for less than $200/nite, just want a nice, safe hotel central to the typical tourist hotspots (Times Square was her first choice). Thx! Link to comment
cindyl
Hi, can anyone tell me what they'd bid to get the Crowne Plaza or similar in that area 4* for 3/16-3/20? Our max. bid is open right now and anything that would make sense less than their published rates (~$350/nite?).Also, any advice to bid on 3.5* same area? Can go down a little in quality, just needs to be in that area.Thank you for any help!! :) Link to comment
Snoop66
Try to bid 106$ for 4* and 99$* for 3,5* Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you're trying to target a specific hotel, PRICELINE is probaby not the best way to go as you're subject to any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select... with HOTWIRE you can often identify the property you may likely receive, but with PRICELINE it's the "luck of the draw".However, before bidding, can i ask how well you know the city and why you need to be in the Time Square zone? While it's not an area to necessarily avoid, in my opinion it's not one to target either, as per our thougths in this Hotels Near Times Square thread.Unless you have a specific purpose this trip, i can almost guarantee you likely won't be spending the majority of your time in Times Square and there are likely better values in other nearby zones.Let us know your thoughts regarding the comments above and/or the purpose of this trip and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
