My husband will be visiting DC during Easter week with our 5 yr old and I will joining him later in the week with my 19 month old. We are really struggling with what area to look in for hotels. We want something close to a metro stop, somewhat family friendly, with an indoor pool and in a safe neighborhood that will allow us easy access to DC and activities. I've been looking at HOTWIRE and the best deals are in Bethesda. I'm concerned that it may be too far and the metro may not be nearby. I've never bid on PRICELINE so I'm not sure where to start. Please advise!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

To begin...

We want something close to a metro stop, somewhat family friendly, with an indoor pool and in a safe neighborhood that will allow us easy access to DC and activities.
If you need all of these things you may be better off booking thru conventional booking channels as with an opauqe purchase (PRICELINE and HOTWIRE) you can never be 100% certain of the hotel you are likely to receive... so you can't guarantee things such as an indoor pool and/or close to a metro stop (and as you get further into the suburbs the metro stops may or may not be near the hotel)

If you're willing to accept some risk, with HOTWIRE you can frequently take an educated guess as to the property you may receive based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. But again, nothing is guaranteed, and choosing the exact hotel is what you give up in exchange for a deeply discounted price.

Let us know your thoughts and how you''d like to proceed and we'll take it from there. If you do want to continue with PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE, let us know the dates of your stay and your expected budget per nite (before fees and taxes)

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Lastly, you may benefit from our new site BackUpBooking.com which fi you zoom in/out on the map you can see the metro stops and determine how far they are from specific hotels.

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

There is a wonderful tour in Washington, DC that uses an amphibious duck. You know your 5-year-old, but I think most kids would purely love it. It goes both on land and on water, and is quite dramatic. Your older kid would get the adventure of it all, the baby might fall asleep from the motion, and you might actually get to see a little of the city and hear a little about it.
