traveled Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Hello,New to the board, but looking for suggestions on bidding for a 3* hotel in the Chelsea area (prefer to be close to NYU) from 3/26-3/29. I'd love something in the $70 range if that's realistic...Any help is appreciated - thanks!Edit: Noticed that Chelsea does not include 3.5*. Happy with 3* or another zone though.
thereuare Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 While the Chelsea zone may be the cloest geographically, if you intend to travel via mass transit, staying in the MTE or ESB may actually prove to be more convenient (depending upon where exactly at NYU you need to be).Your budget is fairly low for NYC as well, so if price is more of a factor than convenience, i would suggest including all the zones that are acceptable in hope of getting lucky. If you want to go this route, exactly which other zones are you willing to accept? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. traveled Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Posted March 13, 2009 If there is a better value that gives me relatively easy access to NYU Law, then I'll certainly be willing to try a different zone.I realize that the $70 is low, and would realistically go up to around $90 if need be. Any strategies for the lowest price for a 3.5*?

thereuare Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 That's actually an easy location to get to as the ABCDEF and V trains all stop at W4th Street which would be a short walk to your location... most anything in the Chelsea, MSG, MTW and TS/TD zones should give you easy access to one of these subway lines. If you choose something on the east side (MTE or ESB) you could just take the 6 train, which would be just slightly less convenient (under a 10 minute walk instead of 5 minutes) and would probably be worth the savings (since it's not really that much less convenient) if you were to get a hotel hear for less than the other zones... but it's up to you if you'd prefer to try the 'west side' zones first and then try the east-side zones... or if you really just want the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay.Do you want to try up to $90 for a 3.5* in any of the above zones... or would you prefer to stick with the west side zones first?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. traveled Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 How about a strategy for up to $90 in any of those zones?
thereuare Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Which zones are you refering to and what is the minimum star level you're considering bidding??Also, since my last post, the $99 Chelsea property has been identified to likely be the new Doubletree which is due to open 5/2/09 according to their website; however, one user has claimed to receiving a letter from HOTWIRE that the hotel won't be opening until October (even though the property is still appearing for dates prior to October), so we'll have to see exactly what the situation is in the next few days. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
