mikeymars Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I'm currently looking at a four star, center strip offer on Hotwire. The description may or may not exactly match any other property currently identified here. It is showing up as follows:Location: Central Strip Rating: Four Stars Amenities: Casino, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Golf Nearby, Spa ServicesPrice: $96 for party of four on night of 7/17/09One other poster listed this exact property description and was told it matched that of Treasure Island. However, a subsequent thread which added "high-speed internet" to this amenity list was also told it matched Treasure Island. Further muddying things, a similar description (including the high speed internet amenity) was identified in yet another thread as being Hard Rock. So I guess my question is can anyone clarify what the absence of high speed intenet on what I was offered means? E.g., is this or isn't this Treasure Island and if isn't, what might it be? Any help appreciated!
thereuare Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 I'm not sure what threads you're refering to with the ID's you mention above (the Hard Rock isn't even i the Central Strip zone :) ) but the amenities above are a match for the Treasure Island so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. mikeymars Posted March 12, 2009 Author Report Posted March 12, 2009 Found the following listing on Hotwire for a property in Las Vegas that appears to not match anything previously posted here:Location: Las Vegas, Near Strip EastRating: 4.5*Amenities: Resort, Suite, Casino, Smoke Free, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Kitchenette, SpaPrice offered for one night (checking in 7/17/09): $152Any ideas on what this might be? There currently are no 4.5* properties on the pinned list in that area. In fact, the only ones in that area that even come close to the Hotwire description are Desert Rose and Alexis Park, neither of which are anywhere near to being a 4.5* (both are currently listed as 3* on the pinned list and neither has a casino).

meggieprice Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Is that near strip East? Actually I can see that... East of the South strip would still be East.Signature does not have a casino but perhaps they are umbrellaing it in with MGM Grand since there is a people mover in between the two. I would love it if they start being here as we really liked it.Yes- as soon as my hands can type more without pain I will review it!
thereuare Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Can you get to the MGM Grand's casino from the MGM Signature without stepping outside? (ie- are they physically connected by an indoor walkway or something similar?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mikeymars Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Posted March 13, 2009 Thanks for the insight on the possible I.D. of the near-East 4.5*. If it is the Signature the suites there look gorgeous, but may be overkill for our purposes (we are looking for a one night arrival stay prior to checking in for a week into a 2BR at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at the Flamingo). What I'm really after for that arrival night is a hotel room at one of the more highly themed center strip properties (Venetian, NYNY, etc). to give my family a nice "first LV impression." So far the closest thing that has come up on Hotwire is Treasure Island which given reviews is on the lower end of my list. So for the moment I'm holding and tracking both Hotwire and coupon sites. The sense I'm getting re: Hotwire is that the fact I want to do a booking including kids (albeit older, ages 12 and 15) is impacting what I'm being offered (I get slightly different results when I search for a generic pary of two adults). That and/or the major center strip properties aren't putting space up for the summer yet and may not until a month to a month and a half or so out from our arrival.
thereuare Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I'm not sure what reviews you're seeing but the Treasure Island is actually pretty well rated. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mikeymars Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 I've been actively putting in Hotwire searches for a one night stay on a Friday in July for a party of two adults, two kids in a 4 or better Central, North or South strip area hotel. That has resulted in very limited listings (always for the same two properties, Treasure Island and MGM Signature, albeit MGM Grand came up once and I'm beginning to wish I'd grabbed it). I don't know whether to hold tight and see if choices increase as I get closer to the travel date or whether only these handful of properties ever (or at least during the summer) offer "family" or "party of four in one room" listings on Hotwire. Any insight appreciated!
AaronJB Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I think there are some hotels in Vegas that do not seem to be as "family-friendly" or just generally do not seem to want to offer rooms with 2 beds on HOTWIRE (which is, in other words, a search for 4 people in the room.) A hotel can choose to offer only single bed rooms with the service.Which date are you looking at?
mikeymars Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 Aaron, thanks - I suspected that some of the better LV strip properties ration (or maybe even never offer) two bed rooms via Hotwire. The date we are looking for is Friday, July 17th.

mikeymars Posted April 4, 2009 Author Report Posted April 4, 2009 What is your maximum budget for this nite? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Based on what I've seen to date, I'd like to try and get this for $120 or less (before taxes and fees). So far only TI has met that (MGM Signature is still up in the $150 range). That's why I asked if I should hold to see if the prices (and # of properties available) start to improve as we move closer to my travel date. Given the massive drop in conference bookings in LV I'm hoping the major properties will have to start looking into Hotwire to move inventory.

One reason rates for your nite above may not be "dirt cheap" is that there is 35K person convention during this time frame, which while not HUGE by Vegas standards, it is moderately large, and could be keeping rates a little higher than usual at the moment. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
