[email protected] Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 After reading prior posts with winning bids by "tilepusher" and "sweetone" (Thank you! :) ) here on the forum, I bid $35 (total with taxes was $47.40) for a 3.5* for one night in the Park Central area and got the Crowne Plaza Suites which is exactly where I wanted to stay. I really appreciated the review sweetone wrote about the hotel! I used the PRICELINE link at the top of the betterbidding board page to place both of my winning bids. I ended up bidding twice and winning each time for a total of four nights since I really didn't want any other hotel except the Crowne Plaza Suites, so I bid for one night, won and then accepted the option for the second night at the same price (since you can only extend for a maximum of the number of nights you just won) then made a new bid for a single night (returning to the boards here and using the board's PRICELINE link again) won and extended again for another night to get a total of four nights. I think I might have paid slightly higher fees by doing it this way as opposed to bidding for all four nights at once, or two and two, but I really didn't want to chance getting another hotel, and couldn't figure out another way to ensure I would only have one night elsewhere if another name had popped up on the win page! One thing - the Crowne Plaza Suites Park Central is still listed on the betterbidding Priceline hotel list as a 3*, but after reading the winning bid posts, it seemed to have been changed to a 3.5*, so perhaps the hotel list page should be updated? We will actually be in Dallas for five nights, but I used my Starwood points for our first night, 3-31, for a night at the Sheraton Suites. Next up, I will be working on a rental car for the stay and am a bit unsure how to use board links to get to Priceline for car rental. I tried not entering a date on the hotel link at the top of the page and just selecting Dallas as the destination, then on the next page, I clicked on rental cars, but am not sure if that is the right way. I haven't booked a car yet though, and want to make sure that that is the best way to make sure I am using the board link? Or should I click on the "car rental checker" link and then just use the priceline choice when they all pop up? :) thanks in advance,Julie
thereuare Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Congratulations on your success!I like the technique you used to only risk an alternate hotel for one nite at a time... nicely done! At check-in let the front desk clerk know that you have multiple, but continuous, reservations and ask them to block the room for the remaining nites of your stay. You may still (likley) need to go to the front desk to officially check-in/check-out each day, but this should eliminate the possibiilty of you needing to change rooms.Glad to hear you're happy with the results and that the information on the board was helpful with your bidding.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.PS- there is a link in my signature which goes diretly to PRICELINE RENTAL CARS, THANKS!!
